Twitter to label politician tweets that break rules

Imagine a world where little Jimmy can't log onto twitter to get the latest shady tea and dank memes without being indoctrinated. It's the most powerful tool in human history.

I'm not talking about right vs wrong. I'm talking about us vs them.

Twitter needs to SILENCE them. They have far too big of an influence and instead of desperately trying to please everybody they should weaponize that influence. Politics is only about being fair on paper. In the real world we have to fight.

But then, what about left-wing views? If they, and only them, are given a platform - taking into account the *huge* influence social media has on it's users, it would certainly lead to more left-wing governments, backed by radical left-wingers, particularly as younger people reach the voting age.

And is that right? Would it be right that, as a result of social media censorship, more governments  subscribe to the left-wing? Because just as with Trump (a radical right), a radical left President would not be good for the US either. And whilst moderate / centrist thinking is where all the answers lie, in silencing either side of the argument, radical viewpoints are all Twitter would ever promote. 

Personally, I think that would be more dangerous than any right-wing government. If social media ever truly reaches a point where it could silence one side of the argument, our freedom is gone and so is our democracy. And when I say 'our', I refer to the freedom of *everyone* - not left wingers, and not right wingers. Because whilst a left winger or a ring winger would like to only see their own views, there is always going to be a 'loser' or a 'silenced party' in the event of such censorship.

And when one person / group loses their freedom, we all do.

We're losing our freedoms every day. I'm talking about intentionally abusing the platform to tip the scales. Self interest in politics by definition isn't right, but it's how the hateful lil white grandpas stay in power.

Nobody's ever brought a knife to a gun fight and then won just because they took the moral high ground.

I think this is a great idea. I know that people will bring up the whole “free speech” argument, which is valid to a degree, but please remember that Twitter is a COMPANY, not a COUNTRY & therefore have the right to control what their site is used for. If you follow the rules then you should be fine.

Wow I WONDER????? I mean how did Humanity cope before the dawn of Social Media? How did we even exist without our Overlord Mark Zuckerberg? Clearly, before twitter there was no advertising, no other forms of media and we all just used to live in our own little vacuum in poverty.

Social media is never going to die 

people find out about things through word of mouth of course but social media has given business and companies free publicity and it helps them grow tremendously
