The LGBTQ community doesn't throw pride parades because it's just a "fun little day to express our homosexuality". Pride parades happen because of the need to express that the LGBTQ community is a community that needs treatment equal to that of everyone else. It's about saying "this is who the **** I am, and I am just as valid as any other person". To throw a "straight pride parade" is a spit in the face to people who have fought for civil rights for the LGBTQ community, and just the LGBTQ community in general. The "equality" I'm talking about is making sure that LGBTQ people have the same political and social rights as straight people. This also just doesn't apply to American LGBTQ people, if that's what you're trying to get at with that statement. This is about everyone in the LGBTQ community all across the world. No one has ever passed laws that discriminate against them. They have never and will never know what it is like to surpress and hide something as simple (and ultimately, as trivial) as your sexuality just because you are afraid of the repercussions that come with disclosing that information.
