Considering that Michael Cohen is in jail for the crimes that they both committed I would say yes. The only reason why Trump isn’t in jail right now is because he is the president.

No country in the world will simply extend citizenship to those who "desire it".

If millions of people are allowed to come in and become citizens, that will cause a drastic change that will affect almost everything in the economy. First, it will increase unemployment since there won't be enough jobs for new arrivals. The economy adopts slowly to demographics. Secondly citizens are entitled to many benefits including social security and such. A drastic increase in people who are entitled to these benefits, will increase government spending in that sector. Unless the government has something to offset that with, it will most likely increase budget deficit and debt over time.

The world isn't that simple. Liberal or conservative, no country opens its borders entirely and gives away citizenship like that, because drastic changes like that can cause many economical problems. And this is excluding potential security problems.

In terms of illegal aliens currently present in the U.S. I think the ideal solution is to give them temporary legal status and let them try to contribute to society, with a path to citizenship in the long run. Those who stay out of trouble and work hard should be given green card or citizenship. But those who commit crimes that are egregious enough to warrant deportation, should be deported.

But honestly, along with that, immigration needs to be reformed to make sure the same problem doesn't happen again. For starters, there needs to be a better system for asylum. Right now, the asylum system is over-saturated and you have legitimate asylum seekers who have been waiting for their interview date for 4 years and more. And unfortunately, yes many people are filing asylum fraudulently, and not only it hurts legitimate asylum seekers (since their cases get stuck in the backlog), but it gives reason for republicans to demonize the entire asylum system (they don't care about legitimate asylum seekers either, they want the entire asylum process to vanish).

So if I were in charge? I would triple the number of officers and judges handling asylum cases instead of building a wall. It's probably less expensive and more efficient. I would add a clause that makes it an offense to cease communication with courts and stop showing up for hearings. Such offense would bar such immigrant from ever getting legal status. So if you are an asylum seeker, you must show up for your interview and hearings or be deported. There should be zero tolerance for asylum system abuse. And democrats should get on this. The status quo is really hurting legitimate asylum seekers, who are the ones that actually have their lives in danger, and it's emboldening republicans to call for the abolishing of the entire asylum system;
