The Japanese owner of a tanker attacked in the Gulf of Oman claimed Friday that it was struck by a flying projectile, contradicting reports by U.S. officials and the military on the source of the blast.

U.S. Central Command said the two vessels were hit Thursday by a limpet mine, which is attached to boats below the waterline using magnets. U.S. Central Command released video it claimed showed an Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps patrol boat removing an unexploded mine from one of the tankers, the Kokuka Courageous.

But on Friday morning, the owner of the 560-foot Courageous, said that sailors saw something flying toward the vessel just before the explosion and that the impact was well above the waterline.

"We received reports that something flew towards the ship," said Yutaka Katada, president of Kokaku Sangyo Co. at a press conference. "The place where the projectile landed was significantly higher than the water level, so we are absolutely sure that this wasn’t a torpedo.

"I do not think there was a time bomb or an object attached to the side of the ship."

U.S. officials have not yet responded to the claims. But President Donald Trump reiterated U.S. allegations that Iran was behind the attack, telling the Fox News Channel that the incident had "Iran written all over it."

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Thursday that the weapons used and the level of expertise behind the attack suggested Tehran is the culprit."

We will happily pump trillions of dollars into another war but when it comes to helping our own citizens it’s “Pie in the sky nonsense” and “BuT HoW aRe YoU gOnNa PaY fOr It!?!?!?”

Fun fact: kids born while their fathers were away fighting the war in the middle east are now old enough to serve in that same war.

It's like the US is addicted to conflict. Can we go a few months without invasions, drone strikes, or having combat boots on the ground? Ffs.

You want a war so bad, YOU go fight it.

I'm all for a regime change in Iran--but it has to come from within. A war will create a power gap and more scum will fill it...

Tea. The US is the one who toppled the previous government which was super progressive and installed this mess in Iran and now they want to take it out and replace it with God knows what.

The US just needs to back out of countries. ENOUGH with this interventionist regime change war obsession.

the US toppled 2 previous govt in Iran. First the democratically elected prime minister in the 30s or 40s (sorry didn't feel like looking it up lol) bc his parliament wanted to nationalize oil. then the shah in 79 (although they still havent admitted to that like they did to the first one) for being too progressive and ALSO planning on nationalizing oil... hmmm seems to be a common theme.

Worth noting it was the Brits who pushed the US into helping them topple the govts for what its worth

Yup. It's always been about the oil, geopolitical influence in the region and flexing its military might as a way to scare and threaten other nations. The US is a damn mess.

Every war that America has been in post WWII was completely unnecessary and were only done in order to secure natural resources and influence around the war, not to bring “Democracy and Freedom”. Also we need to feed our war machine due to the amount of money military contractors make from conflict... a lot of the owners of these military companies are actually members of Congress :emma:

I don't have a link but further investigations suggest that Yemen rebel groups have drones with bombs attached.. they get their military supplies from Iranians suppliers...

US sources want to blame Iran , but it may be extremists using Iranian drone bombs.
