Taylor Swift's Lover is the next Born This Way

I don't wanna see "Born This Way Sweetie, I'm so Sorry" // Let me make it clear from now. I don't mean Lover will sound anything like Born This Way.

I think Lover could be that high profile Gay album that we haven’t had in the mainstream for a while. It's giving me true 80's synth vibes (cover wise, ME!, You Need To Calm Down). It has that loud and proud approach ala I Wanna Dance With Somebody. The same way Born This Way was a risky album for Gaga, I think this is Taylor's riskiest album. The sis is really incorporating political undertones in her latest single. I'm not saying the album has any relevant relationship with Gay people, but you cannot deny the influences Gay culture is having on the themes of this album. I've seen many colorful eras before but this one is bold and "very romantic" as Taylor puts it.

I'm a huge fan of hers but I worry that this album won't be what people are expecting. All her major pop hits were produced by Max Martin, the two singles we heard so far are not. I can now confidently say she isn’t looking for another hit but has a grander concept in mind. I feel most of you are judging too quickly.  The album probably has to be heard in full since the singles don’t seem to scream "independent hits".

On one hand, we criticize her for not being political or  for chasing after hits only. Yet we don't appreciate it when she gives us a different approach. Are the two singles we got 1989 bangers no, but they’re uplifting and fun none the less. I mean Max Martin is probably a call away from her if she wants another 1989 but I trust she has a different vision in mind. Let's wait for the album, I have a feeling you guys will enjoy it. It's not like there’s another notable Pop record to be served this year other than LG6 I presume.

I learned from reputation to not judge too quickly. ME! Has already grown a lot on me but yeah she is def. an album artist and always has been. Imo her albums are best enjoyed as one package. Also those 2 songs being tracks 14 and 16 makes me wonder what else she has in store before that. Maybe she‘ll start with sad songs and then progress into happy. Kind of how she went from angry to accepting to loving on reputation.

We‘ll see i guess.

reputation singles sucked ass but the album was great

i remember some of y'all dragging them being "too mature" and now y'all praising them

there are 18 tracks, and we've only had 2 so far, i'm sure taytay siwa is gonna snap with this new sound

I agree. That’s why I’m waiting for the album before I defend her.

Does it matter? Damage is done

These singles are the safest and child-like songs of her career. :sharon: There is no comparison to how bold and risky BTW was (8 years ago, in a much different social climate).

From a success perspective, reputation resembles BTW (huge numbers but frontloaded) and this next one looks like it's going to be her ARTPOP.

I lowkey like ME! But I don't enjoy YNTCD much. I don't know why but can't she just go back to Countrylor? I miss her love/sad songs. :selena:

So far it's not gay at all. It couldn't be more safe. The target audience is the general public, it's CLEAR.

Okay, Great an album for the Gays... But honestly what has she to do with the gays?

Born This Way had a message and was actually RISKY. Lover is just not good sonically (so far).

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊

I love how she's not afraid to talk about political issues she believes in right now but it was just one song though. It's not like Me! shares the same sentiment of You Need to Calm Down.

Let's see if she has her Bad Kids, Hair, The Queen, The Edge of Glory, Black Jesus + Amen Fashion, before we make any conclusions.

Besides, saying it is not the next Born This Way isn't a detraction, she's not obliged to do anything Gaga did. She is perfectly entitled to create her very own direction.
