uo111 5,282 Posted June 7, 2019 Share Posted June 7, 2019 A dairy farm in Indiana has come under immense scrutiny after an undercover video released by an animal rights group revealed newborn calves being abused by farm employees. Footage shows Fair Oaks Farms workers dragging calves by their ears, throwing them into small plastic enclosures and hitting them with milk bottles. The abuse extends to kicking and beating calves, as well as force-feeding them until they can't breath. The video was filmed by a member of Animal Recovery Mission, who got a job at Fair Oaks Farms and went undercover as an employee from August to November of last year, CBS Chicago reports. The farm is located about 75 miles southeast of Chicago. The Animal Recovery Mission recently released the video, which prompted local law enforcement to launch an investigation. The calves appeared to stay in filthy, overcrowded and hot conditions. Temperature readings show it was more than 100 degrees inside their hutches. Dead calves were dumped in mass grave sites by employees, the video shows. Of course the owners are blaming their employees and also trying to blame the animal rights activists who exposed them. This is what "good" dairy farms are like. They consider themselves a tourist destination and show off how well they treat their cows to visitors. Imagine what the "bad" dairy farms are like. I hope they rain down hell on those shameful excuses for humans and lock their asses up. Society needs to treat its fellow sentient creatures with more empathy. A shift toward vegetarianism is a start but veganism is where it is at (the dairy/egg industry is equally ugly). I tend to be vegan at home and vegetarian when dining out for sake of ease. If there is nothing vegan on the menu I will go for vegetarian (so long as there is something vegetarian on the menu, which is not always a guarantee. In that case I just won't go) I am spending my time between San Antonio and Austin, and thankfully Austin is SOO vegan friendly. But I would starve in San Antonio if I didn't eat any animal products unfortunately. I long for the day when eating animals or animal products is abnormal everywhere. BUT that being said, these allegations need to be taken seriously by the company and addressed IF they are true. America has become anti agriculture recently so I am concerned that this video is fabricated for the wrong reasons. I've also noticed that if somewhere like a farm or a zoo is caught abusing animals then it suddenly represents all farms and zoos. If somewhere like a sanctuary is caught abusing animals, well it's just that one sanctuary. I really don't like animal rights groups, they tend to lie, fabricate and exaggerate a lot.
