They usually make a playlist of the top 100 and playlists for each user's top 100. Songs start gradually increasing first week of December until they peak with a major boost in the last week of the year / first week of the next year, then gradually decrease but don't reach their November numbers until February. Of course the higher a song places / the most users playlists it appears on, the bigger boost it gets

Biagio2103 6,140
I was reading that the Recording Academy is going to make some changes for the Grammys in 2020, one of them being that the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category will now allow albums with contemporary pop songs performed in traditional pop style, in order to make the category "more competitive", just because Tony Bennett has won the award 14 times out of the 26 times it has been given (meaning he has won more than half of the total Grammys given in this category). This means that the songs performed on the album don't need to be entirely from the Great American Songbook, so if, for example, Gaga decides to make an album full of covers of her singles in the traditional pop style, she could submit in this category (A Very Gaga Holiday would be elegible, for example, if the category would've been applied in 2012). I think this is a great change, because every year we see the same artists being nominated in this category, one of them being Tony, it's almost like a rule that if Tony releases an album, he's going to get the nomination and probably getting the award too, he's been nominated 16 times in 26 years. Barbra Streisand is next on the list, with 11 nominations, Michael Bublé is third with 8, Rosemary Clooney is fourth with 7, then Harry Connick Jr. with 6. Besides Tony, only 12 other artists have received this award (3 of them being partners with Tony, Gaga being one of them). This is A LOT for a category that is not even three decades old. Just to compare, the award for Best Pop Vocal Album has been given 26 times as well, with Adele and Kelly Clarkson being the only ones to win it more than once (twice each). Kelly is also the most nominated artist in the category with 5 (out of 8 albums she has released), followed by P!nk with 4 (also out of 8). Besides Adele and Kelly, 22 other artists have won the award. I'm only good at being bad
Biagio2103 6,140
Another change for the Grammys is that both Pop and Rock fields will now have their own committees, whereas previously these two were screened by a Core Committee (the ones that decide who gets nominated for the general field). This means that now Pop and Rock categories will have more experts in the genre voting. This will be helpful for not so popular artists like Carly Rae Jepsen and Lorde, for example. A lot of members of the Academy said that they didn't make it into the Best Pop Vocal Album during the Emotion and Melodrama era because their albums were not popular among rock voters. This change will also avoid the genre blindness that we've seen in recent years, like for example when Imagine Dragons was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album or Beyoncé was nominated for Best Rock Song. And, specially in the rock field, it will avoid the popular winners that bother many people in the rock fanbase (for example, Paramore winning Best Rock Song for "Ain't It Fun", a song that many rock voters considered to be too pop to win a rock category. Of course it won because the song was very popular among the pop voters thanks to its commercial success in the charts). Biagio2103 6,140
Also with the Pop and Rock fields having their own separated committees, we may actually get the Best Pop Song category, which I saw someone a few days ago asking about. Arturo 40,746
Just saying....a pop committee would have probably flung Joanne out of the 2019 nominations even tho it was a top vote getter

However, I kinda feel like ARTPOP would've probably got the nomination back in 2014, that year we had Coldplay and Ed Sheeran (more popular among rock voters than pop ones).
