Okay my 2 cents about Taylor. I really enjoy YNTCD and I also liked ME!. I even bought Reputation back then but there is no denial that her peak was with 1989 and a decline is visible. However it is just an underperformance compared to her past eras and she is no way flopping because she is still doing good compared to other pop girls nowadays.

I think almost every pop girl will underperform at some point, this is kinda inevitable and not a big deal. It's just important how the girls react to that. A little bit of re-validation about their fame/success and self reflection is important. I think the underperformances helped Gaga and Katy in that way and to be more humble to avoid that fame doesn't go to their head. I think Taylor will also change her perception about her success and fame at some point which will humble herself.

Those breaks in the song really weakens it's replayability. Also i feel like the hype for the song died as soon as 7 rings was released.

Not this narrative again :rip: The song spent 7 weeks at #1 and 15 weeks in the top 5. It was a MONSTER hit with a lot of longevity.

The youtube views are "only" at 400M because of that long ass intro and there are multiple versions of the song on the official channel.

- audio : 140M views
- lyric video : 81M views
- fanmade lyric video : 73M views

that's around 700M streams in total on Youtube :coffee:

Everyone talked about it but it is quite forgotten , and that's the truth regardless of if you want to admit it or not.

Doesn’t mean it wasn’t a huge hit.

Focus has over 840M views, does that mean the video is remembered and known? Exactly. Youtube views rarely mean anything. The point is, Ariana had multiple smash hits and one of her videos not having that much longevity (or replay value) means absolutely nothing :coffee:

I am hoping that ASIB will get a Netflix deal at one point. The best scenario would be around Grammy voting period if ASIB really has a chance for AOTY. I just looked up that 4 soundtracks have won AOTY since the Grammy's have launched.....
