Google is probably the biggest advocate for equal rights for LGBT people among  the big companies. Be it inside the company (covering transgender operations, unfair taxes, raise awareness to LGBT issues, "gayglers", etc) or outside (funding prides and associations, political support, etc)

Smart move in the name of marketing at profit at the end of day. I wholeheartedly believe that if the sociopolitical climate was anti LGBT, then Google would not be so advantageous to the LGBT community. Everyone in the LGBT community should be skeptical of the way any business conducts their support of our community and should be wary of the reasons for doing so. I’m not praising Google, a multibillion dollar multinational corporation for cutting a minuscule check to LGBT causes and rainbowfying their company in the name of marketing. My attention goes to the activists and nonprofit organizations that actually give a damn and have given a damn for the community beyond cutting a check to look good.

They've been involved since the early 00's  A group of LGBT employees made a structure within the company to promote awareness and help the community both inside and outside the company.

Google has been progressive when it comes to employees diversity since it's creation because diversity is in Google DNA. It doesn't matter if you're white, black, jew, muslim, gay, trans or old as long as you're talented. That's Google philosophy.

It's too easy to call them sellout only because they're one of the top company when they've been doing a lot even when the company was much smaller

Something people who shout “free speech!” forget is this: There is a difference between allowing free speech and enabling hate speech. Allowing free speech means that we let Gab, 8chan, or whoever run on some dark corner of the Internet. Enabling hate speech means that we allow hateful resentful people spreading bigotry to upload videos to our platform, because we make money from the ads served when people go to watch those videos.

There is a big difference between the two. YouTube does not allow videos of nudity and they don’t allow people to upload explicit videos of people having sex. So the “free speech” horse left the barn a long time ago.

YouTube is allowed to decide which videos they do and do not allow on their platform. This has been true since day one.

Asking YouTube to delete all homophobic videos is reasonable.

As for YouTube we've known they don't care. We know that they age restrict LGBTQ videos too. And take them down. Same with Instagram....

This sets a very bad precedent and is a win for homophobia/Trump/etc. Remember, we're in the anti-PC movement. 

All of this, especially the part about the age-restriction LGBTQ videos. That part literally just happened like 3-4 years ago. Even now YouTube is taking down completely innocent videos, and even hiding some from search. It’s sad that people think that free speech is being enabled throughout the platform when in reality it isn’t. This is selective YouTube bulls**t.
