"Almost exactly two years ago, a Netflix glitch turned Jennifer Kent’s The Babadook into an LGBTQ icon, and Scream Factory is having a little fun in celebration of Pride Month by releasing a special variant of their Blu-ray release of the film, with a brand spankin’ new slip cover.

But it’s not just about fun, as a portion of *all* ShoutFactory.com sales in June will be going to the Los Angeles LGBT Center, which fights to build a better world in which LGBT people can be healthy, equal, and complete members of society.

Scream Factory explains, “We’ve created a special release with participation from our fine partners at IFC Midnight: an official limited edition and numbered Pride Month-themed slipcover packaging that will be shrink-wrapped over our existing Blu-ray release. The slipcover has a gloss finish with embossed highlights.”

Only 2,500 are being made. This variant is being sold exclusively on Shoutfactory.com."

How lovely is this? I'm not the largest fan of The Babadook, however I do love Scream Factory and this is a really great & fun thing that they are doing.

This proves we need more LGBT horror movies. The Babadook is a terrible choice for this kind of thing imo. Why not Seed of Chucky or a Nightmare on Elm street 2. glad they're donating part of their sales though.

I would love to see this for NOES2. However, the whole reasoning was because The Babadook was under the LGBT subgenre on Netflix a few years ago.

I still lol at this even being an actual thing. I remember reading various articles about it where people were basically reaching and interpreting the film on how he(?) was a gay icon. With the power of the internet anything can be a gay icon.

Facts.

That said, I''m glad the creators/team are making something positive out of a surprisingly long-lasting meme.

3 points in and ready for more

This is amazing! I'm actually surprised they're actually using the money for good and not just changing the image for sales like most brands do for pride month!

I completely agree. Plus it is decent priced to begin with, & relevant to the meme. I would hate to see cash grab complaints!
