How is the tweet damning? He feels that Russian interference and influence has helped many U.S. presidents get elected in the past and simply because they helped him get elected does not mean he was complicit, that's how I read it

So now he thinks they helped when he said there wasn't any? That's rhetorical.

I'm sorry, but your response makes more assumptions than points. I never said he was complicit. You did.

He can't make this moronic tweet knowing that his team, and possibly himself, met with Russians at Trump Tower. Let's also not forget the Russian visit to the White House where Russia media was welcomed and US media was kicked out. Trump also spouted top secret intel to the Russians during that meeting. hmmm. Loose lips? Oh another fault and connection to why his tweet was damning. This is Trump we're talking about. He's not smart. Let's stop giving him credit when he literally was none to his name.

The tweet is damning because even Trump himself had to step back and crazy a frenzy over it. And like others mentioned, it's the first time that Trump has admitted to Russian interference. And that follows the Trump admin's history of slowly admitting to their lies over time and making up new stories.

"No russian involvement"

"well yea, there was involvement, but it was with Obama, not us"

"ok yea the Russians helped us. We even met with them several times for damning information and had them hack and leak Democrat info, but that was just hearsay"

Waiting for the next breakthrough excuse.

I never said he wasn't inconsistent, he certainly is. Just using the context of his prior beliefs on that Russia affects elections and helps people win, the tweet itself aligns with that. He contradicts himself plenty either way.

Yeah I said that I dont understand it, thats why im asking..

And yes I understand what you explained but also, the state can ignore what people in their state voted for and vote for the opposing side which is why trump won. Or is that not true? this is why America is a republic, not a democratic country.

The EC doesn’t just ignore the votes of their states. It doesn’t happen.

That’s not why Trump won.

Ok so I guess all this time I was misinformed! I thought a state representative could ignore the votes of their state but it rarely happens. Im almost sure of this information but I guess im wrong.

I think he just doesn't know how to put together a correct sentence - this is not his admission.

I mean this isn't groundbreaking...We all know Russia helped him get elected. I think he's saying he had nothing to do with that.

Yeah it rarely happens. The EC is always consistent with the popular vote state by state.

The issue is that the popular vote nationwide may not be consistent.

It happened in 2016 and in 2000 when Bush was elected despite Al Gore getting more votes.

So it can happen but almost never happens and it was not the reason why Trump won. Is that correct?

Yes.

I have no idea where you got that. If you simply look up the 2016 election results you will see it is not the case.
