Once a singer has hit about 30, the public no longer wants to hear childish music from them. That could be why Taylor's lead single is dropping like a stone. And it was why Katy's last album didn't go anywhere as it was a let down for a woman who was now in her 30's and didn't seem to have developed her style. When you get into your 30's, it's artistic merit or nothing. If she does that, at the very least, she's going to get critical praise out of it. But if not, it'll be just another mixed reception and mediocre chart positions. The youth market want artists to be edgy and/or honest right now.
