First rule of effective argumentation is knowing what you're arguing about. You clearly aren't informed enough to contribute to productive conversation, so I'll stop responding :) Just so you know, hating blindly on something you won't even try to know about is the same principle racism, homophobia, and ignorance work on :)

I've looked into the MAKINGS of the Bible to know it isnt real...reading the Bible to confirms itself isnt research. That's like reading the Quran and it telling you it too is the word of God. You need outside contextual evidence to prove such a claim. I did the research and found no evidence for any divine inspiration...i was raised Christian and taught these things without question and only after I took it upon myself to see all the issues with the Bible...I realized it cant come from God. He is perfect and his word should be too...therefore if I find 1 error...it isn't from God. Therefore all denominations that have formed from this 1 book disintegrate...then I ask what am I arguing with people over...

To me it's no different than having an ancient marvel comic book rule over people's lives...you cant even prove a GOD exists...

That's like saying you know the law because you took some classes but never really read the constitution once :poot:  Does that make sense to you?

I was raised Christian, too. And like you, I hated the bible because of external influences i.e. family, studies, Youtube videos, my upbringing. Then, I began reading it. I know parts of it is crazy and absurd. That's why I'm reading it. You are doing a disservice to the people who believe in it by just discounting the basis of their whole belief system. And this principle works for all religions. We have to strive to understand the basis of each others' actions; because, if we don't, we're all just going to be ignorant fools pointing blame on each other.

I myself don't fully identify as a Christian. But I respect them. I respect the ideologies of forgiveness, of unconditional love, of selflessness and redemption from human folly. These are the concepts most highlighted in the bible. Jesus is a great role model.

And the fact that we're arguing about the bible when the OP is so much more than that (growth and acceptance as a society, a definite action of love) just means there's something wrong here. If you believe so strongly about it, why spread hate in something that's a great cause for celebration?

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊

Good that the church hoisted/hissed (:poot:) the pride flag, but....this thread is a mess.

Can we ever discuss homosexuality without bringing Christianity in it? There are non-Christian, and even atheist LGBT+ members.

It's a human right issue, not some religious issue. :neyde:

Gaga is a Catholic/Christian. What she believes in is far different from the standard you impose. It doesn't mean that just because there's a book to base the beliefs on, everyone's interpretation and understanding of it would be the same. Instead of criticizing and arguing about the bible when you have little clue of what you're talking about, why not actually take time to read it and make up your own mind? I think that's more mature than claiming facts.

Jesus in the scriptures accepted everyone. Theologians even debate that hell is actually empty because God loves us so much that he forgives everyone. So no, this is not a direct contradiction.

Yes Jesus accepted everyone but that does not mean he does not think homosexuality is a sin, he just forgives the sin.

I did not make claims about the bible, I simply used Christians and churches arguments against homosexuality. If you are a Christian like Gaga that believes homosexuality is not a sin, you should have an argument to why you think that. I also did not criticize anyone, I simply asked questions.

Hun, that bolder statement is absolutely false. Idk where you live, but Christians don’t say that, nor would they publicly ridicule you of being one. The majority of Christians and Catholics are very accepting of the gays.

Are you seriously saying Christians accept Gays? that is not true!! Gay children are kicked out of homes and their rights are taken away by government. Try being Gay in a majority christian state.

Taking the Bible straight up doesn't work either.  There's too much stuff removed from the canon and too much stuff mistranslated. Both purposely and nonpurposely.

Look up Lilith and other apocrypha.

There is a pope who allegedly summoned demons just to dispell them.

This idea that people have to follow religion to the letter is something purported by atheists. It's never been true, and never will be true. Not to mention not many religions have a true letter anyways.

Also, if you do some actual religious studies, you can actually interpret those "anti gay" passages as something else. Not to mention the entire Leviticus passage has been purported to be horribly translated.

Well im a Muslim and do take my religion literally. I do have different interpretation than most Muslims but I can back up my arguments and claims. But these churches that have Gay flags do believe its a sin but at the same time they want to support Gays. They are not doing a bad thing, but im just challenging what they are doing more to either question their own religion or atleast question their interpretation of the religion.

better yet, try being me: born and raised in a 3rd world country with absolutely no lgbt rights, both Christianity and Islam dominated.

Better than being sentenced to death in every ... um ... (insert country here), I guess?

That is funny. Try looking at yourself in the mirror some time? No Muslim would ever support LGBT — especially even wave a flag — but the Christians will continue to support the gays :applause:

Just because Islam is worse than Christianity in treating Gay people, does not mean Christianity is good. And no Christians never support Gays.

I never claimed Muslims would hold a flag of the LGBT and wave it so what are u talking about?

Christians support the gays like that article above. I don’t see how hard :applause:that :applause: is :applause: to understand.

Saying that you never claimed it to be, or have known anyone from your religion, automatically validates my point.

Hun, give it up, the Christians won in this thread. You’re going nowhere with your claims.

Just wondering...

Have you talked to any of the people in charge of these churches? Unless you have you cannot purport they believe it's a sin.

Like I said, everyone believes differently. These churches may not believe in the idea homosexuality is a sin.

If you think like, every Catholic church has to fill out forms and **** on what flags they can fly and there's is like some dogma inspector or someone, you'd be wrong.

Every preacher, priest, whatever, chooses what they preach. With some input they change the church.

Also, religion is always changing. Stagnation causes poison, abecesses, in the mind. Where ignorance grows.

Many religions have changed with the time. That's why very few mythos have stories that can be told one way.

It's how religion is. There are as many religions as there are people to believe.

That link does not work. Ask any American if Christians support the Gay community and they will give you a completely different answer. You live in a third world country so to you, christians are amazing.

I dont know how me saying Muslims dont support Gays validate ur point lol WTF?! and its not about Christians VS Muslims and whos better so calm down. You saying Christians are better and they won does not offend me.

I did talk to people who are involved in accepting Gays in the church. I also talked to Mormons who support and dont judge Gays. But they all say that homosexuality is a sin but they cant stop someone from worshiping Jesus. They also say that we all sin so why attack homosexuals when we are all sinners. So yes I have talked to many of them.
