There's too much stuff removed from the canon and too much stuff mistranslated. Both purposely and nonpurposely. Look up Lilith and other apocrypha. There is a pope who allegedly summoned demons just to dispell them. This idea that people have to follow religion to the letter is something purported by atheists. It's never been true, and never will be true. Not to mention not many religions have a true letter anyways. Also, if you do some actual religious studies, you can actually interpret those "anti gay" passages as something else. Old Catholic or Roman Catholic Certain Old Catholic churches reject Vatican 1 & 2 and some even perform same-sex marriage. Jesus preached unconditional love - why do so many people (I grew up Catholic so you can only imagine what I've witnessed) stray from this and treat the LGBT+ like garbage? I am atheist as fudge, but I do of course consider it a strong possibility for Jesus to have lived, and whether we was magical or not he stood by these conditions of love and kindness, something more people should follow in his example if they do live by his name. It doesn't mean that just because there's a book to base the beliefs on, everyone's interpretation and understanding of it would be the same. Instead of criticizing and arguing about the bible when you have little clue of what you're talking about, why not actually take time to read it and make up your own mind? The first 5 books of Genesis are a flop so how could the other books be anything if we cant even get our origin story right?
