I think he could have phrased his thoughts better... and unfortunately it’s not so simple. I for one, after I went to med school, started believing life begins at conception, so, yes, it’s technically ending a life, but I still believe it’s the woman’s choice. You can’t force a pregnancy on a woman because you have an opinion or because of your beliefs because ultimately who’s to say what’s better for a person other than who’s going through the experience?

I wouldn’t want to be in that situation ever, to get pregnant after rape, for an example, but if I was I’d do it or I wouldn’t be able to live with myself I think. Regardless, I don’t think I have the right to force my views on anybody else. It’s the woman’s body, it should be her choice.

I’ll keep looking for Wonderland

The Pope seems mentally stuck in the era where babies are born in managers, where the mother just lets the baby die in her arms. Today, if a baby is born, a doctor is required to make every effort to save its life. So the fetus with a severe birth defect ends up born, in an incubator, getting surgeries etc, instead of just being handed off to the mother. The Pope is advocating extremely expensive medical care for babies that everyone knows will die anyway. $1 million to $3 million for each incubator baby. We all pay for that medical care with increased premiums.  The parents end up with a copay, a big medical bill, and a dead baby. It would be so much cheaper and less traumatic for the parents to just get the abortion and try again. The sooner the abortion happens, the sooner the parents can try again. Of course, I would let the mother choose, because some mothers really want to go through all of that pain and expense because of something in their thought patterns and beliefs. (If there are any incubator babies reading this, you are special, and loved, no offense intended).

But I wouldn't ever want abortion removed as an option for these mothers.

If you are pro-life you NEED to be for free/affordable healthcare and education AND some form of welfare.

You can't just support life before it's born..

Makes sense, if abortion is made illegal there are more kids being born for Catholic priests to get their hands on.

Absolute scum, this is embarrassing.

Humanae Vitae remains one of the most cohesive teachings to come out of the Catholic church.
F*ck them Popes.

Priests rape and abuse women and girls, too. Same-sex molestation gets the headlines because linking child abuse and homosexuality is incentivized in the media  and in the Catholic theology (concupiscence).

Could you explain the Humanae Vitae to me? I’m tried to google it but I’m too stoned rn to understand what I read lol

Why the church pretends to care about human life is beyond me. It's obvious that if you cared you would've done something about the current state of starving children. Gurbai

Sorry but this is disgusting. Stop smearing all Catholic leaders with the same brush. There are so many wonderful and truly good priests out there (I personally know many) who are now the subject of scrutiny and their character destroyed despite having absolutely nothing to do with the atrocious acts other people have carried out.

And what exactly makes Popr Francis "absolute scum"? I don't understand why people think it's ok to be so utterly bigoted and hateful towards Catholics, especially people who are supposedly liberal and tolerant.

I wonder if priests had raped girls instead of boys, if they would have jumped on abortion to erase the evidence :oprah:

They have been raping nuns for a long time, and they make them abort

Edit: oh **** someone had already said it, sorry :laughga:
