Huawei’s bad weekend is turning worse as the company’s American suppliers are all falling in line with a US government edict banning them from doing business with the company.Bloomberg now reports that Intel, Qualcomm, and Broadcom, three of the world’s leading chip designers and suppliers, are cutting off their dealings with Huawei, effective immediately. Nikkei reports that German chipmaker Infineon Technologies has also suspended shipments to Huawei, as have US memory chip makers Micron Technology and Western Digital.

Does China deserve this?

After all..... The trade war could just be one of Gaga's curse on the works after Gaga's China ban

Let's discuss :hor:

Well, the companies had no choice, even Google had to cut their partnership with them.

Be ready to pay a lot soon..

China has already stolen what they need too. They will create their own chips and OS for Huawei. People needs to understand that China knows what extreme poverty and struggles feels like because they experienced it just 30 years ago. America on the other hand do not. They will survive and unfortunately, they will end up becoming stronger in the long term as they won't any longer have to depend on US transfer of technology.

These american companies are ****ed in the future run.

Foreign companies will lose trust in american companies if they can be cut of supplies without a notice and will look elsewhere, this was a very bad move for Trump.

The problem also is that this orange Cheeto is not only affecting the US market, but the entire world market. Huawei was the phone manufacturer that sold more phones in Portugal (if not first, second place) :smh:

Yep...

But the socialist dictatorship leaders there will kill innovation ...

future tech improvements will outpace the Chinese copy cat producers who will find a very , very limited market for their chip outside of China …

Its not a matter of having the tech know how but being part of the Global market...

They are shooting themselves in the foot...

I understand what you're saying but don't completely agree. They created 5G which no other country has done. Which in my view is pretty innovative on its own. China isn't gonna have a problem depending on themselves.

They are not socialist because tbh they don't even a have substantial welfare system hence the reason why consumerism is so low there because people save all their money in case **** hit the fan. They are a a dictatorship yes but far from being socialist given that they are literally beating us at our own game of capitalism. China is the only country where you have to help yourself before the government helps you. That my friend is sure as hell not socialism.

China did not create 5G, South Korea was the first to implement it in their infrastructure, but 5G is just a generation tech. It's an evolution, not a brand new innovative tech.

Seccondly, China is just stealing trade secrets of Western countries or countries aligned with Western alliances. It is only a matter of time before their communist government falls. The people of China will eventually have another uprising like the one in Tieanamen square. No amount of innovation or psuedo-capitalism can save then from the futility of their communist roots.

Would you mind elaborating on how leaders will kill innovation? From what I understand the Chinese government is trying to improve its status in the world economy by pushing for innovation in many sectors. They own a vast majority of the largest companies in the country and there have even been some critiques that Huawei itself is essentially controlled by the Chinese government as well. To me it seems like the opposite would happen. Unless you didn’t mean purposely? If you meant indirectly I can see where you’re coming from.

“Survived” is an interesting way of putting it. Some 30 million people died during China’s famine and the people who live there today without a non-agricultural hukou have been second class citizens for decades. China’s people aren’t going to win anything or become stronger. The elites will.

I think an uprising would be difficult today. At least a successful one would be. China has made it hard for any mass movement like this to take place by monitoring social media, using incredibly high tech surveillance across their major cities, isolating poor people living like second class citizens in large cities, etc. If their government falls I think it might be because they won’t have this seemingly endless supply of cheap labor forever. They’re eventually gonna hit a turning point on labor costs.

The Chinese government has owned firms that work on innovative tech and have still made advances. It’s not like the incentive just disappears. People on top still get very rich. Plus they have their talent going to school in places where innovation is happening so they’re not just sitting around with their heads in the sand while the rest of the world moves forward. They’re absorbing ideas from outside the country and that probably isn’t going to stop any time soon. It’s not black and white.

Also your second part doesn’t really say anything? It’s just you nagging about the same thing again, “Obama no smart.” Trump’s action is more about timing than it is him actually giving a damn or looking out for the American people.

The d!kheads governing China are arbitrarily arresting and condemning Canadian citizens after the daughter of Huwaei founder has been arrested in Canada to face charges in the US. I say Huwaei got what it deserves, besides this is an opportunity for other (legit) tech companies to benefit and take the place of Huwaei where they couldn't fairly compete before.

Algorithm, the beat.

In a limited post , I over simplify but attempt to illiterate a point....

So your response is probably spot on , and I don't dissagree...   but my example is an outline of the problem...

As far as Obama vs Trump ...I think that Trump inherited a problem that departing administration didn't have a chance to address...

The point your overlooking however is the copyright laws that Chinese companies aren't enforced to abide creating a unfair market advantage.. .i.e. quality phones far cheaper....

Some of what you  pay for is the research and development  costs necessary to provide the product...simply copying them and selling for less ruins the market...so a ban on the practice or company is the right move.

An unfair advantage is an understatement tbh. But that is what it is. Without that advantage I still think they could do well in the innovation department. Their immense work force and disregard for quality of life of their poor is their real weapon imo. They have the ability to get plenty done. More than any other country in the world.
