I’d personally recommend Carrie, Pet Sematary and Misery. They are amongst his lightest. IT is heavier and denser, I wouldn’t recommend starting with that one. But if you want to the do it cause it’s actually a fantastic book.

I do have to warn you: his books are unsettling, disturbing and grisly. IT is especially hard to read at times.

How easy are we talking?

Spoiler

I found H P Lovecraft easy to read - Its Horror / Fantasy Fiction. The writing is easy to read but some of the words are "outdated" (old fashioned English speaking words) but that shouldn't put you off. I'd recommend; The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories

Verity by Colleen Hoover. Mystery and Thriller. One of the best books I have read in a long time. Easy to understand.

I liked Christine, which is about a haunted car. I also like Carrie.

He also has a book of short stories called, Different Seasons. Also, Cell is a great book.

Rat Boy

Maybe something by George Orwell - he's known for using his words sparingly and writing clearly.
