You can't enjoy the new if you're holding on to or wrapped up in the fear and negativity related to the past! And Gaga is all about the new and the next; it really needed to be said. But the true message of ARTPOP is implicit in the form she is presenting the album, rather than the song lyrics. With all this multi-media she is planning on using, she is putting her middle finger up to the music industry and showing them that the artists and the people who buy their music are the ones who have the ultimate control, not the "suits" who think they know which single choices and videos the GP wants. She's showing them that the listeners are the ones who create this generation's music: after BTW, WE demanded a more fun, less serious album, and that's precisely what she's giving us. It's not that she's selling out, it's that she's showing the industry who truly has the power. And THAT is what makes the ARTPOP Project a unique innovation. :nacho: Bless u and this post. She isn't some other mindless pop b---h that isn't using her influence for something potentially revolutionary... the fanbase-superstar relationship between Gaga and monsters is quite different from other stars. She does her best to maintain a really personal relationship with us and she has helped lots of people out with self-confidence issues, bullying, inequality and other abhorrent things. Her "martyr" stance might seem a bit much but it's the type of artist she is and always will be. If you want someone who's completley neutral and/or omnious then go listen to Katy Perry or something. I think it's brilliant how she took the time to nip any ****storms in the bud (especially with the Björk comparisons). People honestly worry too much about the media's stance and all the stan wars... even if ARTPOP turns out to be a commerical flop, Gaga would still have a great cult following.
