Alphabet Inc’s Google has suspended business with Huawei that requires the transfer of hardware and software products except those covered by open source licenses, a source close to the matter told Reuters on Sunday, in a blow to the Chinese technology company that the U.S. government has sought to blacklist around the world.

Huawei Technologies Co Ltd will immediately lose access to updates to the Android operating system, and the next version of its smartphones outside of China will also lose access to popular applications and services including the Google Play Store and Gmail app.

Huawei isn’t that bad tho, isn’t that shady as they used to say.

I hope Google doesn’t regrets this, Huawei is the biggest company on smartphones right now, threatening Samsung and Apple, this could be a very very bad move for Google.

WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH MY NEXUS 6P THEN

Huawei was just the manufacturer for Google, they had no other business with the phone.

Correct, since Google is an American company after all.

But i read elsewhere that Huawei devices will still be updated but they won't come with Google apps, well, i'm turned off anyway. So i think i won't buy it anymore :noparty:

Huwawei is pretty much non-existent in the USA.  It's big in Asia though. They don't let the company in because of shady business in accessing user's sensitive information.  The US just don't want Huwaei (chinese company) having a hold in US telecommunications.  This is on of the reasons why 5G in the US will not happen efficiently and as widespread any time soon.

Well that's not a good new for Google but they have to do this in order to not infringe Trump's new laws :/ Huawei and Google have been very close for few years now. If Google could do something else it would, but they have to respect the law
