I’m an American that doesn’t watch the news. Plus, it probably wouldn’t get lots of news coverage since we Americans are really only concerned about ourselves :huntyga: Please tell me what’s going on

I think you should really read about it. Its not “News” or going on currently its a very delicate topic and an issue thats happening for a very long time. You missed some important stuff from history classes

Omg are they seriously pretending that Eurovision and Madonna's appearance was anything BUT political?

The best thing in this competition was Australia's performance which gave me chills, yet the jury placed it 6th (!) and came 9th in the end while a boring number like the Dutch entry came first...i mean Eurovision is mess and this from a fan of the competition since the 80s.

It's been political for decades now..

Pathetic.

Madonna did this in a sophisticated, respectful way showcasing both of the sides.

What Iceland did is just tasteless and disrespectful to the Israeli people who are also suffering from this conflict. Very one sided. If they were preaching about love & acceptance so much, why were they being incredibly rude to the Israeli interviewers and hosts? It's either you drop the act or you don't preach about being kind and live in a peaceful world.

Hypocrite losers.

Regarding Madonna, if the EBU brought her to perform then they should've known she will pull something political.

imo it’s only tasteless and disrespectful to those who find Palestinian existence offensive and who don’t believe they deserve equal human rights. bringing awareness to “invisible” and oppressed shouldn’t be a controversy. but maybe you’re right they should’ve boycotted the whole thing.

It's tasteless and disrespectful to take a side when there are innocent people that are dying in the Israeli side by this conflict as well.

You shouldn't point fingers like Hatari , you should call for negotiation for peace like Madonna.

ESC is meant to be a sanctuary with no politics involved (and don't come with VoTeS aRe PoLiTiCs because that barely means anything). Madonna disrespected this entire institution for the sake of shocking and making her the topic of the next newspaper. That's childish, selfish and very low.

You obviously don't know much about Madonna. She has spoken about the Palestine-Israel conflict many times before, and preached for peace every time she was in Israel.

Last week only, dozens of Palestinians were killed in latest Israeli attacks. I don't know where she's being selfish when she's is using this platform to send a message for peace.

I think it's coming from like "you come to my house, so respect me, when you leave it say what you want about me", it was more a tease and to hurt than actually to give awareness of what's going on, they had the platform of the interviews to speak about it, they could do so many good things but they chose a cheap way, especially the video when the guard took the flags from them which was a EBU order and not Israeli order from what I understood.

This is what many young people don't understand when they fight for the conflict, it's the way they fight, it's more like Twitter in real life, than actually starting a good debate and actually making a change, because after what they did, nothing actually changed, the situation remained the same and they gained their 15 min of social justice fame.

Just like Lana and Lorde that since their cancellation they never spoke about the conflict ever again, never did anything about it, they just saved their own asses and covered it behind the pro-Palestine cause just to look good, you can't understand how much I'm angry about those 2.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

She made the right decision!!! Many people criticized her for performing in Israel but now we know why she did it. She used her performance as political statement. And you can hate Madonna as much as you want but she did THAT

Eurovision should not be a place for politics. But in that case I think it should. The show really preached everything Israel is NOT doing, especially when it comes to Palestine!

Just so you know, your (wrong) not so subtle digs at Gaga aren't going unnoticed. It's very transparent. :rip:

Also, the fact that you think any artist with a contract isn't corporately backed... :smh:

Im confused, why is this controversial? shes saying peace for israel and palestine, she did not support any side.

Madonna is not anti war though and she is not for peace, she just opposes wars made by republicans. She anti right wing wars like Trump, Bush, and Israel right wing government.
