TEOG isn't a fav from her discography for me, but I think it's really powerful and well made aaand everytime I listen im like oh sh*t this song slapz, I forgot. The lyrics to TEOG are the best she’s ever written. The song is so glorious and celebratory yet it’s about such a sad topic. I love that she wanted to make such a fun song about her grandfather’s last moments because “his life was glorious.” That song is an absolute masterpiece. As much as I absolutely love the album version, it’s possible that I love the piano version even more because it accentuates her amazing vocals and the beautiful lyrics. Diamond Heart is one of the most underrated songs of her career. It embodies the reasons Joanne is my favorite Gaga album. It’s deep, heartfelt, meaningful, while still being so fun. The bridge is incredible! “Better get a good look baby, ‘cuz soon I’m breaking out of here.” At times it’s anthemic, and at other times it’s so grounded. It’s one of my absolute favorites. It would have been even more iconic if it was made a single and served a killer video. The whole energy of that song just radiates through the roof when performed live.
