Lmao imagine getting this upset over an opinion... yikes

also, Meghan McCain wasn’t the one who I was agreeing with or the one who said “I don’t feel sorry for Madonna” so... maybe get your facts straight? But even if I were agreeing with Meghan on an opinion of Madonna, who cares? What, because she’s a republican everything she says is instantly bad? Sorry but I’m not one of those democrats that just hates everyone who doesn’t agree with my political views. Stop shaming people, get your facts right, calm down lmao

The irony of the fact that you are saying to stop shaming people, when you were doing just that to Madonna is just priceless. :ladyhaha:

Hmm, interesting comments! :) Would you say Cher fits into the "classy older lady" narrative that culture pushes onto women in showbiz "of a certain age"?

No, not necessarily, because she also maintains those elements that make Cher Cher, if that makes sense. :)

Even in her 70s, Cher is still doing her own thing, very much like Madonna, but it's just something does not present a threat to the 'norm' in a way. With Madonna, her work challenges much more clearly what people expect of a 60 year old woman.

acts like she’s still 19

^^^^^See this comment here? You are shaming her because she chooses not to act the way society expects a 60 year old woman to act.

Even though you failed, thanks for trying to justify your prejudices!

Lol no, that’s saying she continues acting like she has to grind on stage to get a number one hit. Cher’s doing exactly what Madonnas doing by challenging expectations due to her age except she’s not jumping on trends, grinding on men like it’s her first time performing or saying she’s the only one doing what she’s doing. When you get to a certain level in your career you no longer have to use cheap tactics to get attention, that’s what I’m saying. Gaga, Beyoncé, Taylor, Cher, everyone at that level have matured & moved past the cheap, quick plots for attention & have moved on yet Madonna is still doing it? Do you understand yet? Madonna doesn’t have to grind & jump on trends anymore, she’s already established as one of the top level performers but whatever, you missed the ball on the first reply so I don’t expect you to get it this time around.

You can keep arguing with yourself though, have a good one!

If she wants to grind, she can grind.  Her choice.

But the point is that she wants to, and neither you, nor anyone else should be shaming her for that. Got it?

People should be able to do whatever they want, dress the way they want, kiss whoever they want, sing whatever music they want, perform the way they want, independently of their age. By oppressing that, you are just oppressing the ability for a person to be who they want to be.

Ageism is just another form of oppression, and one which you might not experience because you are young, but just like many other  forms of oppression it is meant to deny people the ability to be whoever and do whatever they want to do.

Girl, Gaga just did an elaborate 16 minute entrance at the Met Gala. :ladyhaha:

Taylor lives on drama of ex's, petty feuds and anything negative about her.

Beyonce everything is over the top and done for seeking attention, let's be real.

Cher has never been as polarizing or political/confrontational as Madonna. She's always been safe and never pushed the envelope musically as Madonna has. And she wasn't accepting of Chaz at first while Madonna has always embraced being an ally.

Madonna's pretty much always adapted to current trends, from 80's pop, 90's house, growing electronica/European sounds, contemporary music. Even when she did her own thing she still received ageist vitriol about her hands, arms, face and how she should retire so let's not act her featuring young acts or doing modern trends suddenly began the onslaught of comments. She's well been getting them for decades now.

It's hilarious when these new artists will be doing the very thing in their older years and will be praised for it while Madonna is the one being criticized.
