Well I thought the expression wasn’t meant to be considered so literally and could apply to someone having a few hits but only in a short period of time and then basically disappearing.

I agree with everything but this. Tove Lo definitely offers an edge to pop music that no one else can touch. Sure, she’s not the first to sing about drinking her problems away, or her lesbian relationships, but she’s more blunt about it than anyone else. Plus, she writes her own music, that’s a plus.

”Habits,” “The Way That I Am,”  “Paradise,” “Don’t Talk About It” “Flashes,” “shedontknowbutsheknows,” “don’t ask don’t tell” all give raw vulnerablity you just don’t hear in most pop songs. Hell, even my mom cries to “Cool Girl” because of the lyrics  You could even say “bitches” is unique in her catalogue

I honestly respect all opinions, but I don’t think anyone can be called boring. It’s all subjective. So one person may find P!nk’s music to be boring, but I view it to be incredibly interesting because she’s constantly changing and is one of the few artists who’s music truly reflects where she is in her life. Someone that everyone else may find interesting may be incredibly boring to me. I guess it just depends on if what the artist is doing is interesting to you.

Yeah but there’s a difference between being nice and having a bright/unique personality. I don’t think they are talking about the examples you gave as whether an artist is interesting or not.

Ariana kinda is the middle ground, she’s one of the only pop girls remaining in the GP eye. Her albums are a bore, her whole « I type all in lowercase omg I’m such a millennial » shtick is not very thrilling but her MVs are great and she’s bringing back bubblegum pop so I stan

Madonna surprisingly is very cool after a couple years of meh. Madame X is a whole ass concept, I stan

Iggy (I consider her a pop girl) is my underrated fav. She has yet to deliver a single that is not a huge bop and her MVs are honestly the best in the industry. GO STREAM STARTED ITS A WHOLE ASS BOP

Um how is Tove Lo a part of that group?  Her first hit was 5-6 years ago and she’s actually a really genuine, subversive pop artist who writes her own music and is genuinely cool. You’re missing out by overlooking her
