It's been known for some time that men's Beards contain quite a bit of bacteria due to holding oils, sweat and sheded skin

However a new study shows that the amount ecceds even the bacteria of dogs

---------------

I myself have a small trimmed beard but ever since learning about the bacteria months ago I started washing my beard in the shower daily just like I would my hair :awkney:

Honestly tho many ppl don't wash their faces daily and most men probably don't think to wash their beard when they shower. I didn't before learning about this

I think if u wash it daily to keep skin and oils and sweat from accomulating than it doesn't necessarily have to be so dirty

One of the reasons I prefer shaved guys

(Also because they don't hide their faces in razor cut beards)

I do cuz I have oily skin and get blackheads easily but now I shampoo my beard in the shower too since learning about these germs lol

It's the same bacteria in our bodies really it's just that a lot can accumulate there because the hair holds dead skin, oils and sweat.... If u take good care of it then it shouldn't grow to have so much germs

I honestly just think the reasons the average men's Beards have so much germs is that many probably don't think to wash it in the shower like they would their hair and if they don't also wash their faces seperately then many beards never get a proper cleaning

I wanna ask women's opinions. Does this turn u off if a guy has a beard now? :rip:

Do guys not wash their beards?  I mean, @Economy just said he didn’t, but what about other guys with beards on here?  I’ve washed my beard every time I shower since I started growing it, and I’m pretty sure if they sampled guys who do this, their beards would be only a little more germs than their head hair.   :coffee:

I'm talkin' 'bout forever, baby.

Well I always washed my face cuz of my tendency for scene and blackheads so technically it would get some washing

It's just that I didn't think to do it in the shower as well but since learning about this I started shampooing it as well lol :laughga:

Wondered what on earth I'd be of use of in such a topic when you mentioned me! I'm like, "He knows I'm a girl!" :ladyhaha:

I think some men suit beards and some don't. Same as some men look good with lots of hair and others don't. But personally, I prefer clean-shaven or minimal stubble. That way, there's no feeling of scratching when you kiss and you can actually find their lips! It's just what I think but I personally find that beards on young men make them look much older than they actually are. All my life, I've been used to beards being purely the preserve of old men, so to see young men aged 40 and younger doing it is so strange to me. It's the same way I don't understand why a woman would get her hair cut super short so that it took away her femininity. Whenever a man says that a beard is the symbol of masculinity, I'm like, the standard for men for decades was to be clean shaven and that's when men were in traditional gender roles and being manly was the default! I don't get why anyone would want hair on their face, which you have to wash all the time, you overheat in summer and bits of food can get caught in it. And doesn't it not feel itchy? Hope you don't find my opinion too harsh, but you did ask!

But it hardly matters what I think because you're married, so clearly, your wife is a fan and as long as she's loves it, then no one else matters!

I kind of prefer messy beards / long ish beards rather than razor-cut super trimmed ones.

I'd never understand the appeal of these:

They look like bad lacefronts,

I love short goatte beards and mustaches though
