US yes, Taylor is US. Where Beywl is a cultural phenomenon.

You sure about that? Bey is actually more US. Not to diminish the cultural impact that she has, but her immense cultural impact about racial injustice starts and end in America. Her impact in terms of women empowerment is more worldwide albeit not that big. Though Taylor don’t have that much impact outside of US either, she has maintained her popularity and relevance much better than Bey.

Does it matter? Damage is done

Same could be said for Taylor and the way she makes her fans feel after a concert. It all depends on who u stan. If ur a huge Bey stan, than she obviously feels like a god when u see her. If ur a huge Tay stan, then she too feels like a god when u see her.

Yes I get that, but Bey has that effect on people who are not the biggest fans of her.

I know someone who hadn't even listened to one of her albums, had just heard a few songs and said it was the best concert they'd ever been to.

Obviously if you stan someone, seeing them with your own eyes is always going to be a magical experience but that's the difference - Bey has that effect on people on who aren't stans on her too. Same as Gaga tbh, Gaga has that ability to make people who aren't necessarily fans of her music watch her live and be like '****, she's incredible'.

Tbh , I don't think Beyonce really hit chases these days. She hasn't since the Halo days. There's nothing stopping her putting out a pop/Rn B chart friendly album again, but that's not the place she's at right now. Contrast a song like formation to Irreplaceable. We know she can do radio friendly hits: she just doesn't want too.

But also I think it’s more impressive that an album like Beyoncé (not looking for hits, pretty experimental compared to 4) sold a massive amount even if 1989 sold more (an album meant to smash and filled with inoffensive pop hits - a change for Taylor but it was played safe).

Its kinda like the CTC album going number one - yeah, it’s not the best selling album of the decade by any means BUT it’s impressive because the album is not mainstream.

Staph, please. Your posts...you do love your drama lol. Preaching not to pit women against one another, and then tearing in to Bey. This thread is going to get ugly...the few racists on here always come out on Beyonce threads.

And Beyonce sells albums really well, even if she doesn't sell as much as Taylor and Adele. H*ll, Bey sells more than Rihanna and Gaga in the US—at least in opening week sales. Just because the Beyhive can be horrible (like all stan groups) doesn't mean Beyonce doesn't have hit albums (she's never been a singles artist) or isn't a huge cultural figure in the US. You don't have to like Bey, but recognize reality.

One thing I will agree on is that stan groups need to stop fighting each other; it's ridiculous and a waste of negative energy that often brings out racists, homophobes, sexism, and randoms looking to troll. And the backlash against Taylor is ridiculous.

But Beyoncé has a talent in performing that Taylor Swift could NEVER match.

In the end, no one will remember your sales or what The Guardian said about your album - they will remember the way the artist made you FEEL when you saw them live/saw them perform.

But yes I agree these fan-wars and so stupid.

Yet Taylor's tours outsell Beyonce's

Me!, her most recent song, doesn't have critical acclaim though and she is yet to have a 80+ score on metacritic. So it's pretty debatable.

That's not a fair comparaison as Taylor writes and composes her music herself, which isn't the case of Beyoncé and her 62 writers per album. Also, let's be real here, her metacritics scores are that high just because she's Beyoncé, if any other artist released Lemonade, I doubt it would have such a high score

Nah, as someone from asia, I can confidently say Taylor is much more influential and known here. The radio and news barely talk about beyonce at all. Especially since Lemonade and BEYONCE waasn't really a huge hit in asia

Hi Its Nicole

Beyoncé is pretty much a legend at this point (like yea she can’t make/sell hits because with her, its usually the album that sells). She can sing, dance, and make wonderful music. She is talented. Her stans however (not all of them but the ones we are talking about in this case), are pretty much the opposite. They pit bey against talented women like Gaga and Taylor for literally no reason. Not to mention her and Taylor (And Gaga but that’s not who we are talking about rn) are literally best friends. Bey and Jay-Z showed up at Tay’s 25 birthday party and have been photographed together many times since. Now let’s talk about Taylor Swift and how much she compares because the slander around her and her talent is FAR to much. (WARNING: I’m going to try the best I can to make this part not bias even tho Tay is my 2nd fav artist ever after Gaga. If anything seems unfair feel free to have quote me about it and we can discuss it. Plz keep it civilized tho!) Ok, these Bey stans and some ppl in this thread too are making Taylor seem super untalented and that’s NOT true AT ALL. Sure, she doesn’t have as an amazing stage presence as Beyoncé, but you’ve got to remember: Taylor wasn’t originally a pop artist/diva. She started as a country artist, who present themselves differently. Just look at the difference in entrance styles between one of country Taylor’s tours to one of pop Taylor’s tours:

For her 2009-2010 Fearless Tour opening, she focuses on the theme of the song for the performance instead of the theme of the tour and album overall while giving the song itself a place to shine.

For her 2018 Reputation Stadium Tour, she focuses more on the theme of the album, tour, and the selection of songs in the act like most pop artists do with their tours nowadays (and I’m not saying thats bad). This theme continues through the next song, further proving my point.

There 2 different kinds of performances, and of course she seems to know exactly how to do every little move and can get the crowed excited about her being there in the first vid because that’s the genre style she’s used to, having been singing it and listening to it since age 11. In the 2nd vid, yeah it’s exciting to see her there when her shadow appears first, but after that she relies on the dancers and visuals more than the actual song and doesn’t really seem to get the crowd’s attention as much as the first one. Don’t get me wrong, both are great especially live having seen the Red Tour, 1989 World Tour, and Reputation Stadium Tour In person. But she just seems to be more natural at what she’s doing in the first vid. (This is getting long but bere with me here we’re almost finished)

As with singing and dancing, she’s actually quite better at it then what some ppl say. While dancing still isn’t her strong point, she has gotten way better at it since the beginning of her career. You can see her doing the choreography to IDSB good here:

But singing/vocals is really what she has improved on VERY much:

and even an old performance (3:22-3:42):

(AROUND A 15 SEC HIGH NOTE!!!)

in conclusion they are both mega talented and deserve the success they have.

I didn't say otherwise. What I posted just proves that Beyonce's output is more acclaimed that Taylor's.

Off topic but the opening to the reputation tour is HILARIOUS. She’s trying to act like she has so much controversy/drama surrounding her yet the best quotes she could come up with are “She’s angry” and talking about people wanting a new album from her and how people called her out for making her donations public. I had to laugh :ladyhaha:

Honestly I don't understand the hype around either of them. Gaga and MJ have totally spoiled me :ohwell:

Live and let live. There's room for Tay and Bey. What there isn't any room for is toxic Beyhive and Swifties :ohwell:

You're stinky

While yes the quotes she or her editing team had put in were pretty lackluster for such a get ready moment those were probably the only things she could use. She can’t use quotes about the Kimye mess because most of them would have said Kim and Kanye’s name and although she made it very obvious throughout the whole era who the Reputation theme was about, she wanted to use their names for who knows why, maybe she didn’t want another scandal. She also couldn’t use quotes from the ppl who were invalidating her sexual assault trial because she knows that is such a sensitive topic and she wanted to talk about only on the anniversary of the day she won so that the show overall wouldn’t be ruined for any guest who just went to have a good, fun time and not think about that stuff unless it’s important to the specific show, hence why she only talked about on that one day which was the anniversary.

Sorry for typing long btw I can’t really explain these topics very easily lmao.
