LG6 and the Met Gala

Hi guys, I’ve been reading the LG6 thread a lot and many think that around the Oscars was the perfect time to release or at least announce something. I agreed at first but I realize now that the met gala might actually be a better choice.

Gaga has grown a lot in the past years, from her sound to her fan base. Her fan base is a lot more diverse, and while hard core stand will Always mainly be gays (sorry but true), almost every demographic is a casual listener now - from teens to elders, thanks to her past 3 eras. LG6 is a likely return to form for her, and we can expect to see expiremental pop and fashion again hopefully.

However, I definitely think announcing the lead after the met gala would be another equally good option. Let’s say she wears something ICONIC - social media will blow up about her, everyone will be talking about the old Gaga returning, then BOOM! New single. As opposed to, omg Gaga is so talented she won an Oscar! Maybe she’s not a basic pop star after all then BOOM! A pop song. Get what I mean? Basically I’m saying that dropping after the Oscars might be too drastic of a image change, (plus she needs rest time anyways) and maybe waiting until the Met Gala would be smarter. By now, Gaga’s talent is undeniable thanks to ASIB and maybe it needed a couple of months to just marinate in people’s brains and now the pop Gaga can make her comeback. She could just wear something iconic, then immediately use the hype from her look to begin the next era.

another good reason is overexposure. Gaga was all everyone talked about January - February, and dropping a new single and IMMEDIATELY starting a new era could be bad : overexposure will definitely turn people off, and people need a break from hearing Gaga all the time. I mean just think, aren’t you kinda tired hearing about Ariana Grande all the time? Like if she dropped a new song or project, not as many people would care because we’ve been talking about her since November.

these are just my two cents but what are ur guys opinions on this?

hundred percent agree with this feel like she may have returned to the studio too after the numbers ASIB OST was bringing in to change up the sound a bit

Where do y'all keep getting the energy to speculate like this when 99% of the cases nothing happens :neyde:

I actually think Gaga could go either toned-down like Joanne and A Star Is Born or crazy and wild like she did before, and still be acclaimed. A drastic image change wouldn't necessarily work against her, in fact it just showcases her ability to shape-shift so effortlessly and  drastically in such a short period of time. A great actor, artist or musician needs to be comfortable in assuming different identities and roles your work requires, and I feel like Gaga was deliberately creating a huge contrast between her A Star Is Born looks and her Enigma work.

I mean these were created and presented at the same time:

Both the critics of A Star Is Born and Enigma praised and acclaimed her dedication to her work whether it's being vulnerable and natural or being the fierce and theatrical pop star that she's most well-versed in. Also a lot of people who saw Gaga in a new light started to appreciate her previous albums because they don't see her as a 'pointless artist who tries to shock' anymore.

I'm only addressing from the perspective of public image though. I think the timing of the release would very much depend on information that is available to her team that might not be available to us, they might foresee a lot of events happening in the music industry that we are not cognisant of, or perhaps the album is simply not done.

You all sound like you don’t know Gaga.

MET Gala is not a music event. When did Gaga use any event that was not related to music or herself (as, for example, a nominee for an award) to promote her own work?

Think twice. She has never been the kind of artist that uses something that has nothing to do with her work to promote it. The MET Gala will happen and nothing LG6 related will come.

It’s not a speculation or rumor I’m just saying what I think would be a better idea for her, since everyone else is saying she should’ve dropped after the Oscars.

I’m not saying she promotes the new song at the Met Gala I’m saying she uses it to draw buzz toward her new single, kind of like the Meat Dress -> Born this way announcement. Obviously VMAs are a music event but I think it’s a great opportunity for her to use fashion to draw attention to her music aka how she got big in the first place.

I agree, I wasn’t really talking about hurting her public image I guess, maybe something along the lines of: after the Oscars the attention was on her from the ASIB fans. After the Met Gala all the attention will be from CrazyGa fans and that might help her hype her new single. But yes Gaga definitely is all about contrasting the Lady and the Gaga, maybe the Lady shone at the Oscars and now the Gaga era will begin with the most recognizable thing about “Gaga” : the Fashion ( Met Gala.)

Again, VMAs and such events are music events where she is being awarded for her music work, so it's expected that she uses them to create buzz. Not the MET Gala. Seriously, think about it: every single time she has been on the Oscars (specially the Sound of Music performance) ,  every time she went to the MET Gala, national anthem at the superbowl, and even when she did the Bowie tribute at the Grammys. She has never, ever use these events to create hype for her work. She actually let's the buzz die. I don't know if you were here back then, but every single one of these moments were highly expected because they created a lot of hype around her, people thought she was going to release something, and she never did. She will not let the MET Gala be about herself. Don't convince yourself she will enjoy any type of buzz that MET will bring.

Nicki Minaj announces her Queen album last year at the Met. Though it’s not a common practice, it’s not unheard of either. Plus, OP is just sharing with us what he thinks will be a good time to announce/release anything related to LG6. This thread are natural to happen for a pre-era. Chill.

Does it matter? Damage is done

The most I expect is that a reporter will ask her about her new music and she will say “soon”
