It's bad. Love Jim Carrey but not sure if him alone can carry the movie.

I don't think it looks so bad! Yeah it's not amazing lol but it's a decent attempt imo... only wish it was more like, fantasy w the other characters instead of US govt trying to contain him

so after the remake-mania and superhero-mania and anime-ruining-mania now the videogame-ruining-mania seriously all those movies like the pikachu one and now this look awful and they're gonna keep doing it until there is nothing left to milk. Ugh...

Sonic just looks off, and people might hate me for saying this, but I absolutely hate Jim Carrey.

He probably can't. Not to mention this is coming out after Detective Pikachu by a few months so it's going to look like a ripoff.

Plus Detective Pikachu is like bound to make money. I haven't been in the Sonic fandom for a good while, but it's probably still chaotic as ****.

Pikachu doesn't look too bad imo, but they definitely didn't do Sonic right, here

The anime mania still isn't over. Most of it is just in development hell. I think the people behind the Naruto movie stopped. Mostly because they felt like they couldn't do the anime justice. But the Attack on Titan one is still going.

Plus some may be released that we don't even know about. I completely forgot Edge of Tomorrow was based on a Japanese light novel (All You Need is Kill).

I'm kind of wondering why make a Sonic movie though. The adults have grown out of the fandom. Those who stayed are probably a mess. And in all realities I think Shadow would be better for a western market.

I think trailer is alright, but I hate these animations of Sonic and Pikatchu. They look totally weird, like they are sticky plushes.

Yep. Det.Pikachu actually looks good. And the early reviews are positive.

The difference between this and Det.Pokemon is they kept original designs and made them "realistic", It's still as kawaii as ever, but with realism added like how reptilians pokemons skin would look like, and fur on mammals pokemon, etc, while this Sonic movie, they changed the design and made that look realistic so it turns out weird and cringey.

They might be doing it to bank off of Pikachu. I don't know how realistic that may be though, considering it seems like they were both in development for the same amount of time. 

I think though, that the bigger picture comes from the MCU and geeky/nerdy things becoming "cool" now.

Yeah, I actually think Det. Pikachu looks really good in terms of the animation/CGI.
