I voted for Sanders in the last Democratic primary, and I may vote for him again in this primary, for exactly the reason you described. However, I don't think popular policy positions are going to defeat a demagogue. Hillary Clinton's policy positions may have been centrist compared to Bernie Sanders, but her policy positions were more popular with the American public than Donald Trump's, yet she still lost. He railed against NAFTA, wanted to get us out of Iraq, said that he could not be bought out by the elite and corporations... all progressive positions. Hillary did not say any of those things because she was a Centrist. We need to learn our lesson that playing to the center will cause Trump to win again.
