Unpopular opinion here: Duterte made the Philippines safer. If you've lived in the urban cities, criminality has significantly been reduced (and the media hasn't reported it). Because he has a tight fist, majority of the politicians who want to ally with him also toughen up, stricter implementation of the law.

Also, his efforts on the environment is commendable. He ordered the clean up of majority of the major tourist sites in the Philippines (Boracay, Manila Bay). Other popular destinations followed.

People look to him as if he's a demon but actually, aren't we all? He simply doesn't sugar coat and if he's angry, he's angry. He's done a lot compared to previous presidents, it's all shadowed by his rhetorics and jokes. He talks like the GP. And that's why majority here loves him.

I live in one of the "dangerous" hitherlands of the Philippines and I feel safer.

With this issue, HE SIMPLY DOESN'T WANT TO SUCK THE TITS OF OTHER NATIONS.

We've been colonized a couple of times, and he wants to stand on our own two feet.

Do we need a better president? Probably. I just want him to tone down his speech when his emotions are on an all time high. Deep inside me, I too was very very angry that garbage was sent into our beautiful country. It's not right.

You really have to go outside because you can't stay inside long. Have you been inside the poorest shanties? He made us FEAR them so that we'll be OK with the punishment he had for them. He locked them up for no reason at all. People DIED because of this. How is that OK?

He's not done yet - far from it. Remember the slew of political murders the past months? He's eliminating his political opposition one by one. And with the culture of death he conditioned us to feel, these things become none events.

Duterte is WHACK. WHACK as HELL.

That said, the accumulation (and literal sending) of trash really is a large scale, systemic issue in a lot of Southeast Asian/Pacific Island regions. It legitimately needs to be dealt with on a more collective, global scale.

Also the Philippines is way way smaller and more densely populated. Way easier to take out the people in one nuclear shot vs Canada that has cities spread out over many thousands of KM

Isn’t that why we’re focusing on gettig a new army since abu sayaff took a city? I’m pretty sure they’re on high alert sibce the military has been roaming around cities all over the country.

Then you guys should also pick up the trash that you sent out to different 3rd world countries. If you’re goverment had no idea about this shouldn’t the national coast gaurds do a run in? Something smells really rotten here.
