Like....this is why I don't feel like half these singers are artists....they're trend chasers desperately latching onto something that will give them a following.

No one is getting big because of just super great fantastic music, concepts, even visuals.

Artists get famous for their social media bullshit and what people hype them to be. So no one has to deliver great music because that's not what makes the music industry money anymore.

Sad.

Yea, secret agent traveling around the world changing identities, what a bore, couldn't she come up with something exciting like a dead aunt she never met?

Why don't you go to MadonnaNation instead because there's a lot of people there who would welcome this sentiment.

But that's the whole point. They are all her, her different identities.

If you're gonna name your album after one character, then stay in character at least for the promotional videos - Madame X.

The video seemed like she was having a meeting with her staff. :air: I mean was that supposed to be a promotional teaser, or behind-the-scenes video?

Erm you really don't get the concept, do you...

Madonna is Madame X. Always has been from the very begining as is stated in the trailer. She has always re-invented herself (or look) to potray her current life (situation), asume different "identities". Maybe at times also disquise herself (from the world).

The whole concept is to highlight the shapeshifting essence of her. The "characters" are different aspects of her personality and her "roles" in life that she now explores through personal stories and at the same time gives her input/point of view on those more general traits/concept, like mother, sinner etc. Hence these aren't really characters at all. Rather charicatures of her own personalities that are now magnified. It's rather befitting at her current state as an artist. All around rather brilliant concept.

this autotune is unforgivable.

and why is she just naming directions in the  first two lines?

"came from the southwest
then went far east
also there is the south
and of course also
the north is a thing too
madame x loves a compass
how bout u?"

The use of autotune is a Mirwais trademark, and it's all part of what makes all his productions stand out. This should not come as a surprise for anyone that is familiar with his and M's work, and how they experiment with sounds.

Is it bad I find this hilarious.

I will say this....I think what Gaga needs to do is try on a concept album again. ARTPOPs concept was messy and not as impressive as it tried to be. C2C was a cover album. And Joanne was a bland concept albeit still meaningful. ASIB was obviously a soundtrack.

I don't think Gaga fans are necessarily missing dance bops so much as interesting new sounds and concepts, something Gaga hasn't really been on the edge of since 2011.

I hate Medellin. But I'm still excited for this record (this song sounds alot better) and I have respect for Madonna actually trying to deliver a concept rather than a collection of try hard "meaningful" bops. Notice how everyone is trying soooo hard to be "woke" and deep and chill now that it is almost collectively coming off as fake?

Everything is so obvious and outspoken and plain and repetition of the current slang and there isn't any mystery in pop music anymore.  I think that's what's missing. Everything is too revealed too quickly and so raw that it doesn't have an air of strangeness or newness to it. It's obvious the industry is searching for that new perfect pop sound and they keep trying to make contrived artists happen by changing their looks, making new noises on computers, or quite frankly trying to get their pop stars good soundbytes.

They forgot that creativity and art is what makes and finds that new sound. Unfortunately the new normal has become "try to be abnormal and socially conscious" and it just comes off as fake. I'm okay with some artists making mistakes and saying dumb **** if it's for artistic reasons. But there's no room for that. It's almost like we have gone backwards and certain concepts can't be explored because politics and social presence has become more important than art and legitimate experimentation.

Anyone else feel this?

somebody pin this post on every single site that is related to music in any sort of way. we've gone from one extreme, where certain topics would destroy one's career, to another extreme, where if you don't discuss those said topics and support them NO MATTER WHAT THEY ARE bcuz woke, you are canceled.

If you listen to American Life or Music, you will get it. It's part of Mirwais musical style.
