So why you > world?

This has been bothering me and making me angry since 2016. So I'm going to ask the question. I'm not looking for discussion. I just want some clear answers. 

We all know who won in 2016. 

While there are plenty of factors on why he won, I'm just asking why people couldn't vote for Hillary. 

I'm always the one for the lesser of two evils if I'm faced with a choice. 

Of course many people refused to vote for Hillary on this basis. That she wasn't Bernie. Hillary had to bare not only her own sins but those of her husband. 

So many reasons why. 

But I'm just asking this:

"Why is what you want, need, more important than what the world needs?"

The presidency affects more than America. It effects the world.  But unfortunately the world doesn't have a say. 

But like so many people, here particularly I've seen, are like "I can't support either candidate so I won't vote" when it came down the line. 

That's a nice sentiment.  Entirely useless though. It doesn't say much. Not to mention, plenty of people don't vote, purely out of laziness. 

So, why are your needs more important than the world? The world needs a better president than someone who fits your morals like a perfect puzzle piece.

I don’t understand this either. When it comes down to just two candidates, voting for someone else is just a protest vote.

I would rather vote for the lesser of two evils. I didn’t like Hillary or Trump, but I much rather would have voted for Hillary.

She got my begrudging vote, it's not even "better if two evils" case anymore cos both are terrible choices, it was a shxtshow overall

Because I lived in Washington State and I knew my protest vote wasn’t going to change the election. Now I live in Florida so I *really* want a progressive to win the nomination so I don’t have to vote for someone I don’t like.

I live in Florida, and I’m always interested in how it’s going to swing. We voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012, but we voted for Trump in 2016. It’s insane.

Hillary won the popular vote anyway. Americans are so afraid of "Tyranny of the Majority" that they accept Tyranny of the Minority instead. Abolish the electoral college already.

Except that she got 3 million votes over trump. If the US had a normal election system, that doesnt base the value of your vote depending on which state you live. Hillary wouldve won.

Also, the bernie bros that went full on stupid, the 3rd party voters that put their fantasy land principles over logic, and all the lazy mofos that tought she had it in the bag or just didnt care, made things worse and allowed trump to win.

But never forget, 3 million votes

I might be wrong on the state but im pretty sure that in Florida, the 3rd party guy, johnson, got more votes than the advantage trump had over hillary, so yeah at least there, i blame the voters that preferred a fantasy over logic.

What's a normal voting system tho? Other countries have simmilar issues

 

Here in Canada the popular vote also doesn't guarantee winner either as the seat system can also skew things just the same

 

My province just won a majority government even tho they won by minority popular vote

I honestly think Trump will win here again, unless democrats get their act together, they currently don’t have a solid candidate.

They must have a likable candidate that isn’t too progressive or conservative, much like Obama was, if they want to win Florida.

I feel that Bernie is too left to appeal to both centrist democrats and progressive republicans.

Absolutely! And I'm scared that the same will happen in 2020, I'm not from the USA but I follow the political news a bit (thanks to Twitter, I admit ) and I already saw there's a gay candidate, which might divide votes too because of his sexuality, giving more chances to Trump to win again...
