Trump said the economy would be growing at 4% and stocks would be 5,000 to 10,000 points higher had the Federal Reserve not been raising rates

Trump has been a critic of the Fed since he came into the scene criticizing them for keeping monetary policy too easy and inflating bubbles but now that he's president criticizing them for slowing down growth

He really needs to stop. The Federal Reserve is just doing its job and keeping the financial markets and inflation balanced and in check

He may be right that growth would be higher without the rate hikes but it would be unbalanced unsustainable growth that would lead to problems later

He needs to learn Central Banks are supposed to operate seperately and he's not in charge of them :koons:

Because terms last just a few years for most, politicians will often focus on short term gain. Once they're out of office, the mess is the next person's fault. Especially in America because the two major parties have a pretty consistent back and forth exchange of power every 8 years.

Republicans especially love to rush to deregulation because mUh FrEeDoM to boost the economy but all it really does is makes risky investors more confident and can potentially cause unsustainable growth as has happened before.

I don't think deregulation was truly the main culprit for the last boom bust we had that led to the 2008 crisis but I get what ur saying

Of course he wants to blame the fed. He wants to blame anything on somebody else in the government & his base is going to believe it.

What upsets me more is the contradiction and hypocrisy

He used to constantly bash the Fed for keeping rates near 0% and doing Quantitative Easing money printing saying the Fed was gonna cause inflation and create bubbles and cause another crisis... And this was when the economy was supposibly a disaster according to him

Now that he's President and the Fed did start raising rates he's upset and says they should keep rates low "to put a rocket ship in the US economy".

BULL!!!! If when the economy was so "terrible" u were worried about bubbles than when the economy "is the best economy ever" the risks of bubbles with low rates only increase

And if the economy is as strong as he says why is he so afraid of 2.5% interest rates? Yes thats higher than the past decade but still so low by historical standards

Not only is he being a dumbass and he doesn't understand how monetary policy work... Even if he did, the President isn't supposed to comment on the policy decisions of the Federal Reserve out of respect for their independency. Yet he keeps criticizing them :saladga:
