Earth's magnetic field protects the earth from a big portion of solar winds and solar radiation. Without a magnetic field produced by Earth's core the solar winds would rip off our atmosphere over time (believed to have happened in Mars) and in time even our water. High levels of radiation would also kill organic life after a while as the ozone layer (Earth's second shield from the sun) alone cannot offer enough protection without the assistance of the magnetic field

 

Variations in strength the magnetic field and movements are perfectly normal. But for some time Earth's magnetic field has been acting very irratically moving much faster than though possible and is loosing strength rapidly. It has been loosing strength for hundreds of years but recently the weakening of it is accelerating and very recently even faster, a GPS update that was due for 2020 had to be done already because of how fast the field is moving. Scientists believe there is some cyclical activity happening in Earth's core tho what exactly is not known for certain

 

There is a lot we still do not know about magnetic cycles and the flipping of the poles. We do know that 541 Million years ago a stronger cycle than usual left the magnetic field so weak that almost all life on earth went extinct but earth's field came back before things went critical

 

Scientists do not know exactly how weak the field will get as a lot is still not understood about the process and the magnetic cycles and how they work. However there is concern that if the magnetic field weakens too much at its low point it will damage space technology making GPS systems useless and worse case scenario damage our electric grid and even electronic power systems

 

The damage could be trillions of dollars WW. In the most extreme scenario, if this cycle became as extreme as the one 541 million years ago, parts of Earth with the weakest magnetic field coverage could even become uninhabitable for a time

Mars was once believed to have an atmosphere and water simmilar to earth and lost it when Mars lost most of its magnetic field

 

Earth has an unusually strong magnetic field for its size making it possible to keep atmosphere stable and protect organic life

I'm more concerned with the economic damage and damage to economy if it falls enough to damage our technology

 

Our satellites are most vulnerable because the magnetic field doesn't have to fall as much for them to be exposed

Everything that article said is wrong and scientifically impossible,. The magnetic field moving is always going on, the north magnetic pole is currently over northern Canada

541 million years ago life was just appearing

That site publishes articles for tinfoil hatters saying stuff like "big brother", ancient aliens etc. 

I'm not accusing you of anything but not everything online is scientifically accurate, especially not this
