Ilomilo is my fave. The fact that the album was solely written and produced by her and her brother is amazing. So yeah she deserves the success. In 2018 Interscope intelligently started making her more present and this is why she debuted so big. Honestly it’s marketing genius. She doesn’t have a radio hit. She is huge on social media and streaming services. This is the new way to do it. She has an EP released in 2017 “don’t smile at me,” and this is her debut album. She's kind of like Halsey IMO, they can do big numbers, but she's not huge (yet?) in a pop culture sense, like say, Ariana. She's doing amazing, but I don't feel she's in everyone's face. All jokes aside, my sister, who has always had great tastes in music, was raving about Billie the other night. When I went to bed, I popped in my headphones and listened to the whole album. The music itself definetely continues down the trend road of being overly chill hip hoppish, with a sinister vibe to it. Her vocals are why I can't get into it. Her tone and volume is extremely low. In fact, there is nothing vocally she is brining to the table, accept a very muted sound. Almost too low to be emotive. I think that is a problem for people seeking out more soulful, meaningful music. She will be popular for a short time, but people will grow tired of that sound.
