Why did 5H fail to make an impact?

Their labels not giving them support is what it's really about. I don't know why Camila's label tapered off promoting her as she'd just had a mega smash and that album should've been milked for all it was worth. Granted, Never Be The Same wasn't a similarly successful follow-up and she was stuck promoting it for months even when it was clear it wasn't going anywhere. But to disallow her the opportunity to even make any properly released singles after that and only one of them getting a video was bizarre. It was like one misfire and the plug was almost completely pulled. I think also, the wrong songs were released. Somethings Gotta Give was the biggest fan favourite out of the album tracks and She Loves Control was made for the summer season and could've had a great dance video. That Pharrell collab she did, Sangria Wine, also went nowhere and had no video which was weird as it was, again, made for summer and could've smashed if it had been promoted properly. So much potential wasted.

As for the other girls, same story but with even less backing. I really want something to become of Lauren as she shows the most potential but the others just don't stand a chance and are really needing features to boost their names right now and even that isn't working. There's just so much competition now because streaming has opened up opportunities for so many artists not on major labels and the business of "promote someone and they'll be a hit" is not as foolproof as it used to be.

Shouldn't that make it a chart topping hit then? GGD tells me everything on radio is generic trash šŸ¤”

Smother Em Eh

No substance, their material was so basic. Everything they put out was so done before tbh. There wasn’t any chemistry either.Ā

Camila Cabello had a big breakthrough hit, but since then she has practically failed to replicate its success.

Well, I personally think she will continue to have success. Not only was Bad Things a hit, but Never Be the Same and Havana were both massive successes. Having two smash hits from your debut solo album is a great accomplishment, and with some time I’ll think she’ll grow to be even more successful. After all, her solo career is still really just beginning.Ā I’m rooting for her, she’s so sweet and so talented.

As for the others, I’m really curious to see where their careers take them! I was never really into Fifth Harmony, but I’d love to see them all find some success.
