The Original LG5 was a “Dark Joanne”

Yeah tbh it's becoming clear that she planned her career with the Monster Ball Manifesto so Joanne was most likely always the theme

I think Gaga always knew she wanted to do a record about her family/aunty.. but like everything she does, she wanted it to be the right time.

I think she was going in a moderately different direction with the original, but then she really put life into perspective after Bowie died and wanted to make an album that meant something.

Pair that with Mark Ronson and you get Joanne. It was perfect and exactly what she needed to do at that time in her life.

I feel Angel Down and Sinners Prayer (not the sound) were part of original ideas for LG5, and Gaga wanted to carry them across to Joanne.

The melody that you choose can rescue you ♥

I don’t get why people think LG5 was going to be a dance album. She was seen with a lot of guitars/pianos, and teased piano ballads through 2015. There was like, one video of her dancing in a studio. I think the original LG5 was going to be an acoustic ballad heavy album with dark themes and powerhouse vocals. Maybe a few dance/disco songs.

I feel like the only reason this is a theory was the Chic feature she did for Tom Ford leading to all of her "funkthepunk" hashtags or whatever. I'm only vaguely remembering as I type this. And a lot of her looks seemed oriented towards a more gaga album than joanne during some of 2015/16 of what i can remember. doesn't mean officially we were to get a wildly different album then joanne i guess. all just assumptions based on a lot of little things as per usual.

as for everyone speculating about angel down, I can't imagine it was ever conceived as a dance track. im sure redone just had a different approach to it as a ballad than mark did.

I suspect dance songs because we know she was working with Nile Rodgers (outside of IWYL) and Giorgio Moroder.

Nothing wrong with discussing Gaga on a Gaga forum, especially when we’re not dragging or making fun of anyone

You can "dance" to them as much as  Dance To This by Troye Sivan

considering the fact that RedOne worked on Angel Down. There’s probably a dance mix of the song but was instead turned into a ballad

How on earth could Angel Down, a song questioning the morals of  society as young unarmed black men (a la Trayvon Martin) are being gunned down, possibly be a dance song? The disrespect....:interestinga:

RedOne  still works today (meaning not stuck in 2011)  and a lot of his work, while often upbeat, is acoustically based.

Didn't she say a few times it was going to be about "operating on her old self as a cadavre"? Meaning it wasn't going to be focused on Joanne.

I do hope she returns to that idea some day. It could have been really interesting.
