Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy literally got Heath Ledger an Oscar, and was considered some of the best superhero movies of all time. He proved that you don't need to be funny to appeal to the audience.

The story looks promising, but I really, really doubt there will ever be someone better than Heath Ledger as the Joker. I'm not particularly a fan, I just think the guy was born for that role and he executed it perfectly.

I mean, I sort of said that to hype up the trailer, but I also think that Joaquin Phoenix has a really good chance of being one of the best incarnations of the Joker we've seen in movies. Just from this trailer alone, you can already tell that Todd Philipps and Joaquin Phoenix get this character. Let's hope that translates to the actual movie, though.

Oh don't get me wrong, Joaquin's portrayal looks great already. It's just that Heath Ledger has set the bar waaay too high, I don't think it's reachable at all. Doesn't mean others can't do it justice, maybe just not as well...

I mean, you're right. We'll just have to wait and see.

I remember people not thinking that Heath Ledger would do the Joker justice, and I'm not saying that you think Joaquin can't do the Joker justice, but it's been proven that people's minds on things like this can change.

While you and I have different opinions on what we thought of the trailer, I do definitely agree that I love where the storyline's going.

When this movie was first announced I was very hesitant about it, especially considering the Joker has never had a definitive backstory, but after seeing this trailer, despite all the changes they may make to the character, I think it's great!

Not really. He was born to play that character he played, but that was very different than the comic book Joker. He did great, but it was somewhat more like Nolan’s original character than the comic book Joker.
