Knife 6,803
Why are you guys being so dismissive? It’s so rare that we have a woman of color like her come out at the height of her popularity when it could mean backlash. What would she have to gain from that? It detracts from actual queer representation. I think their thought process is that if they’ve had any type of interaction with the same sex such as kissing, touching that they’re automatically Bisexual. Even if they have a thousand exes of the opposite sex that they can write a whole song called Thank You, Next. Shame.

Some people are only a little bit attracted to the same sex.....others a lot. You shouldn't have to go out and date someone from both sexes to prove you're attracted to both... Not saying Ari is or isn't, but this comment is pretty biphobic with its implications

I can be a straight man/woman and see someone of the same sex and feel an attraction to them but that alone doesn’t make me Bisexual. You may think my comment was biphobic but your idea of why it takes to make someone Bisexual is so frivolous and is the exact ideology that makes everyone think it’s so easy to just label them self as bi/pan. There are gay/bi/pan women of color who are public figures that’s giving her way too much credit. Let’s not act like her “coming out” would harm her career in any way, shape or form! Girl what? This literally makes no sense lol. So how much sexual/emotional attraction does one need to have to the same sex to prove they're ~really~ bisexual? Also I'm bi so please don't try to explain the correct ideology of bisexuality to me when I've spent plenty of years figuring it out myself.

And no you can’t quantify attraction. People can be attracted to anyone or anything but unless you are willing to act on it then you can’t just label yourself as bi. I haven't kissed a girl since 6th grade, but I've had sexual thoughts about women in the past and still do. Am I gay because I don't act on them? Do I have to sleep with a woman to be an Official Bi? You can't tell people whether they can or can't identify as bi. Especially when it's such a wide spectrum that's more than just how many partners of each sex you've had/what you've done with each sex. And HOW WOULD YOU KNOW if they're willing to act on it??
