The "you wanna piece of me" parts in Piece Of Me by Britney are actually Swedish singer Robyn! You can clearly tell it's her voice too if you listen again

 

I don't think it's ghost vocals though 'cause Robyn never wrote the song, I think it's just guest vocals/an unlisted feature.

Well, I mean the writers and producers of the song make it clear that Cathy's vocals are in the final product:

Rob explains that Cathy sang the whole song on the demo, including harmony vocals, and some of her vocals were kept in for the Kylie version too. ‘The Kylie version is basically the demo, same key and everything. It wasn’t mixed and mastered but the parts were all there. I think I added a little bit of guitar and strings when we mixed it,’ he says.

...And it's already been pointed out that Rihanna doesn't sing the hook on one of her biggest songs ever, 'S&M'.

 

It has also been pointed out that Toni Braxton doesn't sing the chorus on one of her big hit "He wasn't man enough".

So, as I wrote, the practice predates Britney (Kylie Monogue) and continues after Britney (Rihanna).

That's what ruined the music industry. I like JLo, but that's just cheating. Artists struggle to be heard and put their music out there,  and someone without a music passion comes and releases whatever they want and get all the attention from radio. 

Now there's this celebrity culture where non talented people get a music deal and have all the payola available. While musicians are left aside and have to go through all the bs before being able to present themselves to the world. 

It's just not right.

But Paula Abdul (and to a certain extent Kylie Minogue) did similar techniques before Jlo and Britney and others even came in the music industry.

And there's lots of overproduced and overproccessed music disco from the 70s and 80s too.

So you don't get to ' cry Britney' when this is a decades long industry thing.

I'm not making it about just one person. I talked about "the music industry" in general, as you just said.

I never mentioned Britney by name. But of course, her impact is also part of the problem.

Now there's a culture? Girl, Paula Abdul did this in the the 80's. Get a grip.

This is what I pointed out.  You don't get to 'cry Britney' just because you're more familiar/closer to her super-stardom than older stars.

And there are lots of overproduced and overproccessed music from the disco 70s and 80s too.
