With Britney at the beginning (1st and 2nd albums) the backup vocalist (NaNa Hedin) vocals where mostly used in the chorus and where higher than Brits vocals but she still sang there, just in some sense Britney was the backup vocalist

Kylie Mingoue doesn't sing many parts of her biggest song ever "Can't Get You Out of My Head", released back when Britney first started.

So this 'practice 'predates' Britney and follows after Britney.  So Britney still wins.

I was actually defending Britney, that she's actually singing, just the backup vocalist is in the front, also NaNa has a crazily amazing voice and Britney can't compete it.

Are we sure about this? I know CGYOMH was written by Cathy Dennis, but I think all vocals were Kylie's? I know there's a fake fan-made demo floating around, maybe that's the source of confusion, I don't think Kylie has ever used other singers' vocals, as hers are quite decent

"Rob explains that Cathy sang the whole song on the demo, including harmony vocals, and some of her vocals were kept in for the Kylie version too. ‘The Kylie version is basically the demo, same key and everything. It wasn’t mixed and mastered but the parts were all there. I think I added a little bit of guitar and strings when we mixed it,’ he says."
