She is a singles artist which is not necessarily a bad thing. Also is more of a GP artist rather than having a large fanbase. So her debut weeks are never great. But her albums have tons of hits and they stay on the chart forever so eventually the album sells a lot. But it's dependent on the hits rather than the name/reputation.

This! She doesn't have as many dedicated fans as some other artists with a bigger cult following so she doesn't get as much front loaded sales but because she makes hits and is big with GP in time the album's always end up doing ok most of the time

It‘s more shookening that ariana has 4 and dangerous woman is the only non-#1 album she has

Lmao what? Since when does Ari have 4 #1 albums? I remember her making a huge deal about Dangerous Woman being her first #1 album?

It was her first number one in the UK. But was number 2 in the US

If you’re shocked of that fact then it proves that chart doesn’t translate to an artists legacy.

Gaga has Hit Singles and Hit Albums, not everyone can say that :firega::staymad::trollga:

And Gaga is about to have another 6.000.000 CPSC song with Shallow :nooo::nooo::nooo:

This probably doesn't take in consideration how much bigger some of those rih songs were on radio

So why isn't shallow on that list if it has nearly 6M?

Or are those pure sales and Shallow is SPS?

It's updated March 26, 2018 :huntyga:

Also those numbers are calculated some weird way, not actual sales of US nor WW :oprah:

Yeah, she's more of an artist for the locals:ally:
Of course like any pop queen, she has a gay stan following, but she's no Ariana, Gaga, BTS in that department.

Its always surprised me how she has lots of fans but even they won't all buy her albums. If they end up buying her albums eventually, as evidenced by sales figures and go to her tours, why aren't they buying the album in its debut week? When I look back, it's not a case of there was always a lot of fierce competition and there were a lot of weeks in November that had a one week #1, so it's strange. It's even odder to think her last 2 albums were some of her lowest selling, yet they managed to achieve #1! As someone who lives in the UK and knows how much the UK has always loved her, I remember being shocked to discover that Rated R only peaked at #9 here despite having 2 #2 hits and Anti only peaked at #7 despite Work being huge when it was released. It makes me realise how a #1 isn't the be all and end all, though. If Rihanna can reach such iconic status with barely any #1 albums, there's hope for a lot of artists to be remembered.

Well #1 albums doesn't necessarily mean anything. I mean, Cher hasn't had a single #1 album and yet she's one of the most legendary pop icons we have.
