shame 25,360
Don't get me wrong, I like several of her songs. One of my favourite songs ever is It's Okay to Cry. But I find her to be severely overrated. I tried giving her latest album a complete listen and found it rather painful to listen to. When I hear her production, I imagine auto-tuned sounds of nails on a chalkboard and kitchen pots being thrown in the sink. A lot of her songs lack structure and are very repetitive. People say she is innovative and is the future of pop but I can't see it. I do think there is indeed a fine line between experimental and horrible music but I fail to see any artistic value in SOPHIE's work other than random processed vocals blasting over heavily distorted synths for 8 consecutive tracks. I would love to be given some insight and perhaps a different perspective. Personally, I would rather listen to other experimental EDM artists that a produce a more structured and refined pop sound like Grimes. Tell me your thoughts. Maybe I'm getting old. angels forever, forever angels
kvnrp 48,353
Y'all wanted LG6 to sound like that Faceshop song, but that sounds like metal put through a broken blender
freakumdress 690
Her album was one of my faves of 2018. But it’s not for everyone I guess
Widows Kiss 7,818
Try listening to the songs she produced with Charli XCX, they are much better than her own songs sans Immaterial.
Ryusei 61,036
Not everything is for everyone. And a sound like grimes isnt her goal cause she is sophie and not grimes. I love songs like vroom vroom by charli xcx or also faceshopping and ponyboy, it may be noisy but to me it‘s more aggressive and it just goes hard. Eddie 2,518
We will have to wait to hear how the album sounds. I mean a clear example is Joanne, remember when we thought it was going to be pop or funk because it was produced by Mark Ronson & Bloodpop What if tomorrow I see you again? Should I say that I used to love you?

Literally. But I think she’ll have a different approach with Gaga (who I’m hoping knows not to release a bunch of sounds and unstructured songs). Her stuff with Charli was amazing. LordEnigma 11,313
When will we get to a place where we will understand that not everyone will like everything. There are people who say Gaga is overrated and although I disagree - it’s ok! You don’t get the appeal of Sophie and that’s alright - just don’t over think it
Suspiria 10,683
I think people have heard a couple of her songs and based their judgement on that. But she's actually pretty versatile. She has that iconic and very controversial hard "pots and pans" sound that she did on OOEPUI. But she also has a much poppier sound she's done for artists like Charli XCX and Kim Petras, as well as a lot of her older work. If you listen to her whole album though you'd hear she is also capable of some really beautiful, rich and atmospheric stuff. "Pretending" and the second half of "Whole New World" are just gorgeous. The first time I heard them I genuinely had goosebumps, I was just so overwhelmed by it. More like sound design for an intense sci-fi film than pop music, but I'd definitely be hear foe having that on LG6.
Sestri Levante 1,045
Not everything SOPHIE makes sounds like metal through a blender (even though I wish it did ). Also, "auto-tuned sounds of nails on a chalkboard and kitchen pots being thrown in the sink" is the coolest way I've seen her music being described, I'll be using that a lot . SOPHIE has produced some "tamer" songs like Hot Pink, Vroom Vroom or even It's Not Just Me. I'm sure if we end up hearing the GagaxSophie we'll get something both fane bases will enjoy

Angelm 8,655
I just hope #LG6 doesn’t has that much of the HEAVY signature beat, a hint of SOPHIE is okay.

It's on my phone along with It's Okay to Cry but the rest from that album is just... I'll check out her more pop stuff I guess.
