Cuz since he's very left I wonder how moderate states would view him Since the electoral college not the popular vote decides the winner it's important to keep that in mind It doesn't help to lead in support of all ur supporters are concentrated in specific states Places like Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin are great places for him. Places like North Carolina and Florida, not so much. Based 2016 and polling, Id say he can win Iowa and NH. That gives him the election. 284-

We’re tired of not being acknowledged, being told our policies don’t work just because it doesn’t benefit the rich and we’re also tired of the media and the press putting a heavy hand on the process. That combined with the $$& in politics by multinational corporations in the form of PACS is so gross and that republicans and centrist democrats try to tell us we live in a democracy. But in reality, it is an oligarchical society we now live in. The only way to course correct is to ask the rich to pay in larger sums now for the programs that should have been in place decades ago. These people rely on uneducated people and voter suprression tactics in order to serve the people who fund their campaigns. They play “who’s the bogey man anyway” so that the status quo is maintained. That’s why there is division. Some people are okay with that and others aren’t. I mean I think the same can be said about right winged politics tho. There's an equal amount of backlash Personally I'm pretty centre wing cuz I don't like either extremes in the spectrum. Both have serious problems and download sides

There's an equal amount of backlash The one I had in mind specifically is Medicare for all. It’s doable. Other places have been able to do this successfully. Raising taxes to the wealthy back to 1970s level in terms of marginal tax rate in order to fund social programs like college/tuition and the green new deal is doable. It’s just that rich people have been used to paying less taxes since the 80s and they don’t feel they’re required to do so anymore. Not to mention the fact that trickle down does not work as many (not all) rich people do not spend their wealth for enterprise the way the theory says they will. I'm ok with raising income taxes on wealthy a little more but not on Corporations because that's actually a tax on middle class too Also times are different. It's easier now in this globalized economy to shift operations to other countries if your economy is less business enticing I think the the US has some room to increase some types of taxes on wealthy like income taxes or capital gains tax but honestly only so much more revenue would come from that I don't think the issue tho in America is that taxes on rich are too low (many states have a top income bracket not that far off 50%)... I think the bigger issue is that too much money is misspent If the US cut military budget in half... It would still have the biggest military in the world and it would save $350 Billion Raising an extra $350 Billion with higher taxes would not be easy as they would have to go up considerably Again, I think the bigger issue in America is that money is being spent on the wrong things Corporate and income taxes here in Canada are at simmilar levels yet we do not have a lot of government debt, deficits and we still pay for health care (at least most of it, some segments of healthcare are privatized, it's not like some European Countries that have full coverage)

Basically what a lot of people want to hammer is that if your campaigns are funded by big donors, you’re more likely to value them and their agendas over regular Americans. Its the root of corruption and we expect that a corporate/PAC-backed candidate will do little to weed out that corruption. Having a lot of small dollar donors also indicates that you have a huge movement of people behind you. That means you politically have more leverage. Your followers will help you by applying pressure to congress. 13 hours ago, HorusRa2 said: Well I think it has a lot to do with the progressive wing always being mistreated by the centrists, corporatists and the media. Super thanks for giving me more insight into this, guys. Appreciate it. Would you objectively say that those more concerned with the fine details of the financing compromise a majority of voters (regardless of party) or still a energized minority? I just ask because I'm interested to see how it plays out in terms of seeing who is most "winnable" vs Trump.
imnotyourbabe10 6,120
Still feeling the Bern! No big money, consistent voting record, has fought for and been arrested for civil rights activism and is the closest thing us far leftists can offer to the moderate democrats without alienating them too much. However the neoliberal dems need to get on board with where the millennials are coming from with Bernie or they'll likely get another era of conservatism (hopefully 45 et al. end up in jail but who knows). EDIT: I wonder how ranked choice voting would work in the US?

Fraud and waste are giant issues in almost every govt ran program in America. This is rarely discussed as a root issue sadly.

FATCAT 60,888
Biden is about to jump into the running and I definitely see him being a HUGE force of nature when it comes to the primaries. I'm going to wait until the debates to decide on my first-round support, but Biden is definitely someone that could beat Trump. The media and political circles in general overvalue a politicians ability to raise large sums of money... regardless of the means by which they get it. It’s weird how backwards we have it in the United States. We should not be focusing on campaign finance. We should be focusing on policies. Campaign finance is just part of the horse race that the media loves to cover. It’s CNN’s version of a sports event.
