ViviLittleM 3
On-demand audio streaming now makes up more than three-quarters of all music consumption in the U.S. The equivalent of nearly 125m albums has been sold and streamed through 3/14. Of that total, nearly 100m equivalents come from streaming, representing 77.5% of the total market. Physical albums, meanwhile, have logged north of 13m units so far this year, with a 10.5% share (CDs 8%, LPs 2.5%). Digital albums and tracks have been rapidly dwindling, now making up only 6.7% and 5.3% of the market, respectively. Fewer than 9m digital albums have been downloaded this year. 66m digital tracks have been downloaded, with an album equivalent of 6.6m. Physical albums now make up almost as much as the digital album and track business combined—quite the reversal of fortune on the retail side.

They should go by revenue

I was celebrating the amount of weeks women have spent at #1 in 2019. Just because there are songs like SBP and others by women that are up and coming on the charts doesnt mean I want them to do well solely based on the fact that women sing them. Quality first. Also I don’t even bother commenting on negative Ariana comments as there are multiple on this thread every single day. I comment on factually incorrect efforts to drag her (and Rihanna, and Katy, and Taylor and anyone) over comments that she uses payola which are just not true. You think I wouldn’t defend that ava girl if someone said she used payola to get SBP played when in fact its just a pop radio friendly song just like any other single by a pop girl. Looks like it adds up.
