BuzzcutSeason 3,307
Taylor doesn't deserve the number one with this new song. Was really looking forward to the creator of Blank Space, Delicate, and Style holding me over till Gaga arrived.

They may be an underperformance compared to their previous leads but not flop at all. ME! will get like 2x the points that Shallow did when it peaked at #1 how's that a flop

The points you are seeing are from her loyal fans, and her team spending tons of money to shove the song down people’s throats with ads, radio deals, banners, billboards, etc. The GP is saying NO and radio will drop this as soon as Taylor’s payola budget runs dry. Applause lasted cause the GP enjoyed it. Also, shallow didn't need to get get anywhere near the point numbers of ME! It’s longevity due to its universal acclaim is more important than 2-3 weeks of 300+ points. 2 completely different songs.

I just wanna add that Look was also a frontloaded mess ( you can see that by the fact that her label payload it to hell and back just to get it to #1 on radio and after that the song started BLEEDING) and only got lucky debuting at #1 because the hype back then was bigger since people wanted to hear what she had to say about the Kimye controversy + she was coming from a huge era like 1989, cause the quality was not there. Debuting with 600+ chart points is insane, not debuting at #1 with that much is even more insane. We‘ll have to wait and see how long the song actually lasts but it is definitely not a good look for liddos to cackle about a decline when Taylor‘s „decline“ so far is on par with Shallow‘s peak, which obviously was a smash hit. Cuz like... even though we predict and assume every week, you gotta keep in mind that literally every song on earth is one viral meme away from either smashing or tanking. No one would have thought that a Twitter Barb would get the biggest #1 of the year by making a trap cover of Old MacDonald Had A Farm.
