You can do the rest of the math. lamaisongaga.com

So in some sense, you pay for the name, I mean there's nothing really special about French artisans if the outcome is similar to clothes that you can buy for very very cheap.. like honestly there's nothing special about the coats.. Sorry if I sound salty, it's not against you, I LOVE you posts, you really need to make a book or something of it So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Sorry if I sound salty, it's not against you, I LOVE you posts, you really need to make a book or something of it Well that statement just isn't true at all. And Galliano wouldn't be at Margiela if that was the case. With this collection specifically, it was his intention to manipulate clothes to an almost gross/unwearable point. It's essentially sculpture, using incredible materials, to create something that's a dystopian commentary on our world. There is beauty in it, and if you look through the rest of the collection, you might have more context. As much as you think you can, you cannot recreate the thought, process, and hours that went into those garments. It's the same thing as when people go to a modern art museum and say "I can make that." Or bash pop stars for not living up to their expectations, and appreciating what is created. This sums up what the clothes are meant to evoke, and the process of their creation: Spoiler Clothes are crushed and squashed and mutated and shadowed beyond conventional recognition by being trapped beneath tubes of filmy nylon hosiery fabric; even feather and hair are caught within these translucent fabric sandwiches. The concept of layering was very much the backbone of this collection, as Galliano was drawn to the idea of “creating your own world within a world that’s very troubled at the moment.” Evoking his controversial Clochard collection for Christian Dior Spring 2002, Galliano continues to find inspiration in marginalized people who “don’t want to live within the confines of society” and who dress in layers with “their most precious possessions on them.” https://www.vogue.com/fashion-shows/fall-2018-couture/maison-martin-margiela
