YeehawKylie 7,817
Honest question: do football players going to the Trump White House deserve something better? No shade. But...they're literally just college athletes. It's not like they're the Colombian President and First Lady...

He isn't serving it as an insult. He is serving it because he thinks that guests prefer a Big Mac over a fancy meal, because that is what he prefers. If Obama served White Castle at the White House his supporters would praise him for not being an elitist and representing normal Americans, while The Right would be talking about how trashy he is. Now we see the reverse happening, because Donald Trump is a Republican. There are more than enough legitimate reasons to criticize Trump and his administration that we don't have to pretend this is something worth criticizing. If Balenciaga can do crocs, the White House can do McDonalds. I’m sorry but no. He is a narcissist. Literally serving what YOU like is just a symptom of it. A White House meal should be actual food. Great food. It’s a once in a lifetime meal and visit for most people. If Obama served White Castle it would be trashy as well. But I guess since this administration has no class fast food is appropriate.

It’s common courtesy, if you are attending as a guest to a professional environment you are expecting to be at least served a decent meal, it’s so lame to dress up in suit & tie only to be served something that you could’ve gotten from the drive-thru yourself Uh Red Wine... He could’ve had gourmet burgers or ribs. He has a full kitchen staff at his disposal. It’s the effort put into it is what makes it bad. Imagine going to a wedding and being served cheese and crackers and vegetable platter. Kind of an insult when you go out of your way to look decent and this happens. You go to a tacky party, you kind of get what you get. 2 minutes ago, Gardevoir said: It’s common courtesy, if you are attending as a guest to a professional environment you are expecting to be at least served a decent meal, it’s so lame to dress up in suit & tie only to be served something that you could’ve gotten from the drive-thru yourself Again, you get what you get as a guest. Trump has done this before and he will do it again. --- My overall point was that this is a college football is over-glorified in our country. I don't think they're special and I don't really feel bad for them being invited to the White House to meet the President (generally a high honor in itself) and getting served "his favorites" which happen to be fast food. Heroes of school shootings, Waffle House shootings, etc., don't get White House invitations. Perhaps for them I may think they deserve more, but I think college football players can be satisfied with the trip itself.

But I guess since this administration has no class fast food is appropriate. People have food trucks at their weddings, they have served pizza at the Oscars. Trump didn’t invent the high-low catering thing. You may find it tacky, others do not. It’s subjective. Personally I think it’s fabulous that Mary-Kate Olsen just served bowls of cigarettes at her wedding. Either way it’s entiely inconsequential. Nah I’m pretty much as left as it gets and if Obama served something as shitty as White Castle at a formal White House dinner on sterling silver and china, I’d call it pretty ****ing trashy. He has a full staff at his disposal that could serve all of these casual type foods warm and in an inviting way. Food trucks at weddings are serving warm food or food that is designed to be served cold. I’ve never been to a wedding that tried to feed people cold fish sandwiches and nuggets from McDonalds. At the very least, food will be in warming trays. Pizza can be kept hot in warming ovens. I loved Obama, but if he would have served cold White Castle at the White House, I would have called it tacky and embarrassing. At least Trump could have served warm barbecue and pizza! That’s easy enough and enjoyed by the same crowd that Trump thinks “loves fast food”.
