ctherainbow 3,162
So. If we’re talking about COUNTRY country, no. If we’re talking about the pop/hip-hop infused Splenda country that’s around now(which I 100% blame TSwizzle and Sam Hunty for), then yes. You and I, Sinner’s Prayer, Ayo, and the BTW Country Road Version far surpass a lot of the current “country” music. But Gaga has a long way to go artistically if she wants to match up against raw classic country artists. Source: I grew up in the country. I was raised in country culture. Country was the most played music in my household besides Christian. The only radio stations that you can reliably hear in my area are country. One of my neighbors once had a deer hit down the road and butchered it and was handing out jerkey to the neighborhood within the month. I owned a cowboy hat before Joanne. Shallow. Always Remember Us This Way. Alibi. Music to My Eyes. Diggin my Grave. Out of Time. Maybe you’re not listening it to the right way because you hear Gaga and you automatically assume pop. Does a NYC girl need to put on a fake accent for you to hear country?

I know a lot of people won’t make that distinction, but it is there. I'm talkin' 'bout forever, baby.

I mean, rock started in the South, as did country and jazz

I mean, rock started in the South, as did country and jazz I would argue that, despite the differences, most LMs regard any song without synths that includes a banjo as country, so I’m just happy to see someone on here who gets the difference. But for real, what we know as classic country music grew out of Southern Rock and bluegrass/Americana, so Bradley’s tracks throw back even past classic country music. The difference is pretty fine, though, since early country music predates Southern Rock and even influenced it, so merp. And tbh, I only replied because OP is cute, so.
