So maybe that’s it. Because all my recent pop culture interests have been ruined by Twitter. Two actors specifically.  More TV shows than I can count.

I was message board rat too, but even those can be toxic. There is nothing worse than loving something so much, the getting on a board and finding out people HATE it.

Kind of like when people here sh!t on the Joanne album. People can have an opinion of course and like what they like, but sometimes it just brings things down. Especially when you want to share the love with other fans.

I'm so happy I experienced Joanne removed from stan contexts because I love the album soooo much and it's so obvious a lot of stans are parroting narratives that literally only exist within the fandom.

I joined this forum because I loved Joanne so much and it was so discouraging. :duck: I turned into a Gaga apologist and defender. Now when she does something, I tend to wait at least a day or so before I come on here and I tend to not post in the thread dedicated to the event. Everyone is entitled to their opinion of course, and not everyone is going to like the same thing (its a strength of this fanbase that our tastes are so eclectic as it shows how diverse of an artist Gaga is)...but I don’t enjoy diminishing something I like by having people nit pick and point out “flaws.”

how she not thank her fans? who will buy her album, watch her movie and attend her tours. she just need make her fans productive in a good way, make good campaign. so no more trolling to promote something.

I agree. I feel like a few years ago gaga and us fans had a falling out. I fell off of twitter at the end of the ARTPOP era and i am not active as i used to be but i know there is a rising number hostile fans and it's really sad. I know some people must have hurt her from all those hateful comments about Christian.

I agree but its not just the hostile fans or the idiot ones like the ones that did the starbucks things, but the "well intentioned" ones that judge her and disrespect her work without even noticing.

From mocking quotes like "reverse warholian expedition", to judging and mocking her for going to epione and get fillers (which is a disgusting thing to do, to mock a bullying/abuse survivor with ptsd that taught us about self love and respect, fer her own personal beauty choices).

Constant demands for stuff like the DWUW video (which wouldve damaged her career like a million times more than just the song).

Mocking and complaining about C2C, or even Joanne. (While also mocking her connection and speeches about the real Joanne(her aunt).

When she named us Monsters, I bet she didnt think we would become actual monsters.

Oh and btw, why would she thank us for ASIB, when most of the fanbase DIDNT EVEN SUPPORT OR BELIEVE IN ASIB FROM THE START. Our biggest participation in this era was mocking her 100 people quote and making it into a viral video that most likely hurt her chances for Best Actress. (All because this fan base cant comprehend the idea that interviews are meant to reach each different channel audience, not a fanbase that will watch every single one of them, or that other stars like Glenn Close do exactly the same.) Let that sink it, Little Monsters

Wake up, are you dumb? The Starbucks thing is minor, and it's funny, and trust me Gaga finds it funny too. Plus Gaga literally thanked us like two weeks ago calling us "Little Monsters", not in a speech but y'all say she's fake in her speeches so…

Yes! Before I started becoming more involved with the Gaga fanbase online, I kept to myself, just watched her YouTube videos and listened to her music. With ARTPOP, I loved “Dope” so much and it made me cry so many times because I can relate to it, only for me to find out so many fans despise the song and that they like “I Wanna Be With You” more. I listened to the song and I found it reductive; just another love song that she decided to dedicate to her fans (even though we have an entire album for that already) and it sounded like a mid ‘90s Disney Renaissance ballad. It was the first time the fanbase ever disappointed me.

She thanked us at this year's Grammys, right? When she won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

Nope.

I think there is a difference between laying off social media and not caring about your fans. Social media is a toxic place and just because she doesn’t associate with that anymore doesn’t mean she doesn’t care for her fanbase as a whole. Just a year and a half ago she had fans onstage with her when she won her VMA in the middle of her show. During 5F2 she mentioned how her fans mean so much to her on the set of the PI video. She’s talked about her connection with her audience during ASIB interviews. The Oscars aren’t the kind of awards you thank the fans at, you thank the people directly associated with the film. She still brings fans onstage, talks about her love for her fans at her concerts, reads letters fans throw onstage, etc. It’s not that she doesn’t care, she’s just made her private life a bigger priority, and that’s a wonderful thing. She’s finally happy and comfortable in her own skin as Stefani, so I’m sure it can be annoying to have people on social media begging for what they want her to do next as “Gaga”. This doesn’t mean she doesn’t care about her fans, it just means her own happiness is her priority and that makes me so happy. This is all just my own opinion.

Not The Real Gaga

Pretty sure she appreciates the fans—she's thanked them in a few speeches, recently, right?  I know she has said it in interviews for sure a few times. I could have sworn she mentioned us in the Grammys as the Onion parodied it.

I don't thinks she hates the fans, but I think the social media sh*t can get way out of control and that is why she avoids social media interaction with fans 99% of the time.

Has she, though? :trollga:

To be clear: I don't care.

Will you marry me? Your mind...

The only thing I will add, is the first post I read on this board but everyone hating on Gaga and losing their sh!t for her speech about calling herself Lady Gaga running from Stephanie at Bradley’s award thing. Which then evolved into Joanne being a terrible not artistic album and how they didn’t care about her dead aunt.

I have loved Gaga since I saw her open for NKOTB. But I never felt the need to be part of the online fan culture. I joined this forum because ASIB moved me like no other film has in decades. But the first impression I got when I came here...not great.
