BTW for me is maximalism, the album is so "extra", camp, loud and diverse and yet cohesive at the same time. It should have flopped were it released by anyone else but Gaga was sooo huge then

I remember reading a review of BTW that described its genre as "everything but the kitchen sink". It's 80s yet futuristic. Pop yet metal. Electronic yet guitar driven. Industrial goth yet teenybopper.

It's Synthwave meets Dance Pop, with some rock elements

Pop

within that: rock, funk (the MTN breakdown), disco, electro, edm/dance, metal, country (You and I's production), industrial, house, techno, punk, new wave, mariachi, synth, 80s pop.

I would say Born This Way definitely has the most genres in a single Gaga album and that isn't just because of the number of songs. The production is *crammed* with various musical elements. It's insane how much she fits in there and manages some semblance of cohesion while also considering she didn't spend all that much time with it for how many songs are there.
